You bring up my concerns too. We know Grier sucks at drafting and it appears that Chubb has made little to no impact on our defense. Then bozo the owner screwed us out of a first round pick that Grier would have missed on anyways

The defensive line, especially Phillips and Wilkins, have been playing at all-pro levels as soon as Chubb arrived. That's not a coincidence. Teams gameplan for Chubb and it opens up opportunities for other players.

Is that all cap savings? If so, that would allow us to pursue a top tier, healthy (and willing) CB.

This. Since Chubb came in our pass rush has improved dramatically. Think back to the start of the season when we were getting zero pressure. The pressure stats for the last 4 games or so have been brilliant with Wilkins looking like Aaron Donald and Phillips looking like JT.

Just wish Boyer could notice this and stop with the cover zero but giving up a 10 yard cushion at the same time.

Boyer seems to think that the cover 0 will work with any corners, and it most certainly does not. The gang blitzes are leaving the second and third stringers in the secondary woefully exposed as well. Regardless of any other changes they make in the offseason, a new DC is a must.

Read somewhere that Chubb's usage has been below that of Denver's. No clue why that would be.

Looks like I read that wrong. We save around 4.7 million if we cut him on june 1st.

If we cut him before June 1st and don't designate as a post June 1st cut then we only save $4M in cap space for 2023 and have $14M in dead cap. No hit for 2024 as we have taken all the hit in 2023.

If we designated him a post June 1st cut we save $14M in cap space for 2023 with $4M in dead cap and kick $10M in dead cap money into the 2024 season.

If he gets cut then it will be a designated post June 1st cut and we will kick the dead cap down the road. We are going to need space for 2023 as we need to resign Wilkins and Connor Williams as well as he was only a 2 year deal. Then we will need to decide on Tua at some point as well.

    Oh ok.
2 huge mistakes I feel Grier made is giving in to Howard and signing Armstead who has never played a full season and I believe averages 5 games missed per season. This team is built at least salary wise to win now and we will probally be one and done in the playoffs with not many picks or salary cap space to fill our glaring holes.
If this happens it's time for Grier to go.

I agree with you on Howard; there were signs he was no longer a shutdown corner then, and the injuries this year have really slowed him down. Kinda torn on Armstead - he’s so good when he’s in there and is such a leader for that line that he was worth the gamble. They could have signed a couple of guys for what they paid him, but not sure they would have equaled his worth.

Regardless, Grier should be gone. Don’t know if a one and done in the playoffs is enough to get that done, though. Heck, at this point, with Grier’s track record, I don’t know what else Ross needs to see to make a change.

Agreed, just giving the pass completion so why even blitz? Makes no logical sense. "We are going to blitz, but give you 10 yards for a completion. "

I guess the Mighty Alexa doesn’t know squat about forecasts. This is going to make for a very interesting game if there is indeed that much snow.
