I would say Ross definitely wanted Gase. He said this time around he wanted to go with his gut (as opposed to the committee convincing him to hire Philbin). Maybe Gase was Tannenbaum's top choice as well but I believe Ross would have put his foot down on this decision.

I haven't seen any of that but then again I don't pay any attention to La Confora.

He would have been a good match IMO but I am intrigued with the selection of Gaze .
BTW Coughlin was also considered but in the final analysis they wanted someone who proyected into the future more.

Agreed, I was calling for Shanahan since Joe was shown the door but deep down inside I knew it made too much sense to happen here in bizzaro world.

If Ross was the one who had final say over head coach then the Miami Dolphins are in big trouble. Why hire a football "czar" if you aren't going to let him decide what football people to hire?

Of course Ross had the final say over the Head Coach. He's the owner!

I read that all the people were ranked 1 to 6 from several people (including Marino) and Gase came out on top.

These two are the same thoughts I have.

According to my source, Ross wanted to hire two head coaches, but Tannenbaum didn't want to hire any coaches and instead wanted to insert himself as the coach.

I wanted no part of Marrone to be part of this team, a souless jerk and overall bad coach. I'm glad that Ross finally stepped in and did something that most will be happy with and went with the correct decision instead of listening to "Milk-Shake Mike"

2 Super Bowl rings nearly twenty years ago and nothing of real merit since then does nothing to make him a better choice than Gase. I'd rather go with the guy whose needle is pointing up than a guy with it pointing down.

Shanahan and Jackon would have been infinitely better hires IMO.

I had 5 guys I would be happy to sign, Shula, Jackson, Gase, Coughlin and Shanahan.

Shanahan didn't actually do that badly in Washington. It was the FO and ownership that handicapped him severely.

Tannehill and Miller are basically made for a Shanahan offense.

If you throw Hugh Jackson into the mix, that was my first choice. He did a good job in his one season in Oakland. It was foolish for them to let him go after one year.
Glad to see he has another chance in Cleveland.

I was shocked he wanted the Cleveland job. I think Haslam finally lucked out.

Agreed. Must have been one heck of a sales job by Haslam. He must have given Jackson the ability to bring in his own GM or something.

That is one of the few places that has been a bigger dumpster fire than Miami.

Well, Tannenbaum is the GM, Grier is basically the scout with better pay at this point.
