He is the source of the problems and dysfunction of this team. His slow learning curve is setting this franchise back years if not a decade.

Somebody needs to sit the man down, show him how poorly his decisions have reflected on the organization, and convince him to stop making them.

The biggest thing to come out of this IMO is that Mike Tannenbaum wanted to hire a guy he formerly represented as an agent.
He basically built a coaching branch of Priority Sports & Entertainment, and recruited up and coming coaches(and done pretty goddamned well we predicting them)- of the five guys he signed, Dan Quinn, Steve Kerr, and David Blatt all became head coaches. Dirk Koetter has had interviews, but didn't make it.
He also formerly represented Hue Jackson. Note that Mike Tannenbaum just hired long-time Jackson collaborator/BFF Al Saunders to be a consultant here. They also tried to hire Jim Schwartz, who Jackson was very vocal about liking as a DC when he interviewed for the Bills job this offseason.DevilFin13, gilv13 and DolphinGreg like this. -

For me, this is a crucial hire, whether its to be Campbell or someone else at the end of the season, it needs to be the right one, or this franchise is in horrible trouble. He cannot miss on this hire, if he does, he will lose even diehards such as myself, who have been with this team since 1966. He cannot afford to continue to drive fans away from the franchise. -
And Falcon fans were sad when Parcells chose us over them. Guy has coached 5 games, way too soon to tell. Revisit the topic after 2 years and see how bad it really was.

Last time around we thundered in and stole Parcells from them. Dimitroff/Smith gave them a great run.
Time will tell with Quinn, but I think we can all agree his pedigree was well beyond Philbin's as a head coaching candidate. And he's off to a much better start. I doubt this defense would be struggling the way it has with him in charge.Tin Indian and Georgia Fin like this. -

After 5 winning seasons they needed to rebuild and that is what they did the past two seasons and Quinn was fortunate to inherit one of the top QB's in the NFL, along with one of the top WR's in the league.
Quinn has been able so far to improve the play of the Falcons defense and that is why they are once again one of the best teams in the NFL at this time -
Quinn, Bowles no surprise here. Its funny. Some people still believe ross is an absentee owner. For example, ross is the main reason why Kovacs is on the team.

I been known that. That's a name I was saying when calling for Philbin's head last year. Maybe Ross should give me a job.

Throw in Rex Ryan too. I know a lot of people on this board don't really care for him, but I think he's a great coach. I wouldn't have too much of an issue w/losing out on these guys if there were any viable candidates available in 2016, but the names I keep reading about don't inspire any confidence in me whatsoever. Gus Malzahn is pretty much the only coach out there that I could get behind, but I don't see it happening as of this moment. More than likely, Tannenbaum will be heavily involved in the hiring process and I think he'll find one of his guys. Speaking of... Who is available that MT has ties with?

Does anyone really think that we would have gotten Quinn if we had fired Philbin? The Atlanta roster is better and they had a high first round pick, it was the better job. Atlanta is also not in the same division as New England, or the same Conference for that matter. The Atlanta job was better and he would have gone there regardless of it we had fired Philbin or not. Atlanta's front office is better than ours as well. Their owner is better than ours as well. Do we need to go on with this?

I wanted to hire Rex last December before they announced Philbin was coming back. He is a good coach, even though his teams are very undisciplined and tend to fold in big spots defensively.
I do love hating Rex though. It's fun. When he speaks you want nothing more than to shove the words straight down his throat. He talks a big game and when he loses it's hilarious to watch.
Campbell has some Rex in him though. Same mindset about their players and what they want to see on the field. The big difference though is Campbell doesn't take shots at other teams and players. -
In regards to coaches w/ties to Tannebaum that are available....Disgustipate mentioned Hue Jackson & Dirk Koetter. Mangini is the only other name I've heard as a potential candidate w/direct connections. Hopefully, he made other contacts while networking as an agent. -
Sigh...
We all now know Philbin shoulda been replaced last year. Many of us thought it at the time, but some here held out their belief in him for some odd reason.
This news though, is a glaring indication of what's really wrong here. I've kinda been on the fence with Ross, thinking well hey, he's turned the corner. Horrific early on, but I felt he'd put people in place to allow him to step away from making the mistakes, and letting qualified people handle it. Especially when he brought in Tannenbaum.
Now we hear this... and it's bad. Real bad. Especially when you look at the whole situation. You'd have to think, Quinn, with Tannenbaum being his "former agent" would have been on board with coming here. Ross kills it... That's... not good. You hired football people to make football decisions. Step the **** back, and let them do their jobs. -
And fans will still defend this owner. The problems start at the top and trickle down. Bozo the NFL owner...

I am NOT down on Tannehill just think there is a whole lot more needed here then getting Dan Quinn. -
