Our youth must be taken into account..That is who we are.. Like a broken record i've been saying the expectations were too high for this year considering the turnover on defense, and the youth of our QB and overall team... For me,this was an evaluation year, been sayin it since the end of last season...and some nice evaluations have come out of this season so far, certain players went to another level imo.. Lets talk about this.
Vontae Davis, another level..
Cam wake..another level, and beyond..
Davone Bess...another level..
Kendall Langford..another level..
Marshall..already there level.
Lets just try to change our perspective some this year, have some fun, and analyze what we need moving forward.
Season is not over yet, we have 2 weeks to find out if we put our drafting cap's on, or not..I have a ritual, I cant watch college tape until the current season its completely over..However, it doesn't keep me from breaking down my own team..
Let's see what we got..
Henne...I saw more positives out of the game than neg's..His foot work was better, and the overall speed for which he moved looked crisper....still needs to slow down on hs read's.
I did see some improvement in his overall game though, even saw him avoid the rush peripherally, step up, and deliver....He made 2 good sized mistakes the whole game..
I will go on the record and say, I do think Tyler thigpen can play in this league. and if he finds his way in to the lineup for some reason, he might not give it back....Alway's evaluating....His awareness, his eyes downfield when scrambling, and his running ability, are intriguing for this offense.
I thought ronnie had pop in the first half, and we went away when he was hot.
I thought Henning had consecutive bad games..his flaw is not knowing when to run the football, there are times in a game where it is right thing to do for a myriad of reason's...I didn't see the reason to pass so much on 1st down against this particular defense, especially considering you want to keep your own defense that cant stop anyone on third down, off the field....I dont like the way he sequence's his play's, in certain down and distance scenario's, in pivitol parts of the game..
Parcell's, you better not leave this team while were going thru this..your every bit as responsible as the men you hired....finish the job.
Iam really worried about playing in that stadium for the next 10 years...our fan's came to make a difference this year, and like our coach said, we didn't deserve the performance.... Now This type of response from a coach seems like he's dissapointed in their effort and performance, and for that I ask Why?, why would we be playing poor at home?, what logical reason do we have to not come out like crazed dog's?...does he not know were not good enough?....cause if he is really upset with them, then there is something really wrong goin on round here from his side, or the stadium's side,:shifty:..
Merling, Odrick, Mccdaniel..replaced by who?...our lack of depth along our def front was at code red tonight, and the Pats knew it...we need the Odster back.
Cam wake is so explosive that after 3 plays, he's gonna need to take a play off to let the lac acid build back up..
Lol..Jaworski said that wildcat should be taken to the zoo''....Putting it out on 3rd and 6 seems counterintuitive .....silly call..
When Is Bonamego or Bonomago takin a drive out to the wood's?..
I just wanna say, that I cant wait to spend the next two weeks with you guy's, should be fun..
I really want to know why Sparano is embarrassed by his player's performance, I think that's the most interesting sound byte of the night.
How bout Carroll getting out past the 30, yay...
Ninkovich and Armstrong, playing well in this league after being cut.
Well the good news is, were going on the road...and were really young.
From the complete overhaul, 2 and a quarter season's ago, this is what building the right 53 is all about....having a 20 and 16 record while doing so has to account for something...We need 1 more free agency and draft period before I personally raise my expectation's, I just wanna see how far we can get this season.
bye week...not for me, I'll be here all week, will you?

good stuff dj. i am expecting a playoof birth this year. i think we have enough pieces but you're right we need to remember how young we are. next year we have to be in the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP. There is no excuse year 4 unless we get killed by injuries. year three we are still making wholesale substitutions. next year its just mix and match, a TE?, a RB? an ILB? Its single pieces not entire units

What did I expect? Not to get blown out at home by a Patriots team we are as good as. We are young yes, we have bright spots yes, but this homestand of 2 games was an utter disgrace on almost every level. There is really not much we can take away. File it away, put it behind us and forget we even played in weeks 3 and 4.

DJ great write up! This was a terrible loss at home but it doesn't take away that we started the season 2-0 with both of them being away games. That has to account for something. Our loss last week was a hard fought game where our young QB threw for 363 yards against the top defense in the NFL.
We have much to hope for but we all need to remember that this is only one game. This board has been so up and down this 1st quarter of the season that it reminds me of a Bi Polar woman on her period. We win and we should be in the Super Bowl, we lose a game and now we are looking at getting the 1st pick in the draft. Cmon Fin Fans lets get some balance. Our team has two weeks to fire some coaches and get on track. I saw the disgust in Sparano's face and voice as well. Not all is lost and some times we need to go through the fire to come out golden.
I'm not giving up on our playoff hopes just yet.dolfan7171 and adamprez2003 like this. -
Sorry Deej, you know I love you but this was soul-crushing.
Here's what needs to happen tomorrow:
- Fire Henning; elevate Lee to OC.
- Fire Bonamego; elevate - I don't know, MY MOM, who has never even watched a football game, to do a better job coaching Special Teams than this dolt.
- Reward the good performers - Marshall, Bess, Wake - by giving them a spa day Tuesday to relax and rehabilitate.
- Run the living piss out of the rest of the team until they puke up actual chunks of internal organs.
- Sparano and his staff, along with Ireland, will be fired at the end of the season; possibly before that.
- Parcells will leave.
- Ross will bring in his assbuddy Peterson to prolong the Decade of Misery we have had to endure as Dolphins' fans.
I'm definitely not optimistic tonight.MikeHoncho, Miguel, djphinfan and 3 others like this. -
On to the topic at hand yeah we have some talent but the biggest concern is QB. Yeah Henne puts up some stats but the things that I notice every game is his pocket awareness and the inability to scan the field. He is too inconsistent to be a GREAT QB.DolfanJake likes this. -
If Parcells has really walked away, make it clear, he ran away without finishing the job. He was a fraud here. He got paid to really do nothing but extend the DolFans misery.
And now get ready for the Carl Peterson era. We are truly the Chicago Cubs of the NFL. -

Henne is having time when teams drop back into zone...and dont put ay pressure on him. This is where I am concerned, mostly because I dont know if this is something he will get better at...or will be a flaw in his game forever. I would say inconsistency is to be expected in his game right now....but there are some troubling signs. -

I was waiting for someone to make this thread. And guess what? A few years down the road and now the thread will be "what do you expect from an old team".

Thanks DJ, just what I needed to get me through. 2 weeks to "get things turned around". I will keep the faith.

Deej, I'll be here all week too, but it's hard to find a lot of positive from this first 4 games. We barely beat a team that arguably has a lot less talent than we have. We beat the Vikes because our D played way beyond it's years and ability and then we blow up against the jests and pasties.... Is that youth or is that what this team has been doing for several years under this regime ?? Perhaps the Tuna saw this coming that really is why he backed out now instead of later ??
STs performance was again inexcusable. This phase of the team has not been right since....I can't remember when....maybe when O'Brien was here with Saban or even when Westhoff was last here in 2002. It's not necessarily the personnel because we use the same lower echelon players that all teams use for the core of their STs. I'd like to say that Bonamego will be canned this week, but it's highly unlikely during the season that he's shown the door...there just aren't folks sitting out there that can replace him.
I have to disagree with Marshall though. He certainly laid down, as did the entire offense in the second half. Can't hardly blame them, but geez....
It's just embarrassing to be a Fin fan today and now we have to wait for two more weeks before we see if they can improve or digress...
EDIT: So much for being in the middle of the season for a reason to fire a coach... -

I also wouldn't place Marshall on the good performer list. He quit in the second half.
-
my thoughts what i saw and feel about this team/game...
- first of all, why the heck do you bench chad henne, after the 3rd INT, which
clearly wasn´t his fault, yeah the 2 picks before where bad, but still you
can´t knock the kids confidence with a move like that.
- first drive of the game...3rd and 6 and we go wildcat ?....wtf
- i don´t know if there was mention of it at the start of the season but it
seems, that vontae bought some property at season start and it´s called
DAVIS ISLAND !!!
- ok, lets do this, we got 2 weeks, fire that ST´s disaster in a coach in
Bonemego and while we´re at it, try to get in a guy who controlls the time
management at the end of halfs/games as well, because sparano is
not/never doing a good job with that
- 3rd and 5 after the blocked punt, Wake gets held, flag...well no its not it
????: ThePHINS.com - Miami Dolphins Forums http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?p=1273055
was no holding, ridiculous, i never like walt coleman and he didn´t do
anything to make it better this game
- ben tate´s KO TD, Jason Allen got shuffed in the back on the sideline....no
call
- man, would i trade these 2 road wins for the last 2 home games in a
heartbeat
- the next 6 games are brutal, i don´t know if we go 2-8 at the end, but
i certainly wouldn´t be shocked if we did
- misi has hit the rookie wall after 2 games, wake is a beast...kudos for
jeff ireland to find that guy
- we can´t stop the run
- we finally covered the TE´s but i´m not sure if it was us or the Pats
didn´t really try, why would they need to, we gave them 28 points of TO´s
- we need to lock up davone bess very soon, he will only get more expensive
- did anyone started to laugh like me, after that FG was blocked and they
scored ? -
Well the fly in the ointment of firing Bonamego is you have to have someone to replace him..who would that be?
I liked Frank Gansz jr for 3 yrs now, since the house cleaning when Tuna arrived, he is at UCLA but they are in season, who else is there?
I "think" Parcell's Giants ST coach during the 80's is still kicking, I'd certainly give him a call..but otherwise..? Maybe an ex Ace ST guy like Gary Stills who is in the UFL?
As for this crap "the next 6 games are brutal"
We just were spanked 41-14 at home, I'm no longer particularly afraid of losing which means I'm prepared to watch them win. -
Remember when certain people including myself were being critical of certain areas of the team after the first two wins? Some people didn't understand why. They didn't understand the criticism or negativity from some of the posts. "Can't we just enjoy the win?" Now you can kind of understand where people like myself were coming from with the early concerns even though they were 2-0 at the time. I saw this coming a mile away.

Faith is the only thing that is keeping me running at this point, but sooner or later that too will faulter. Along the lines of what has already been stressed here on the foul play by ST's is the sight cringing feeling I always get when Henne is under center and does his drop back....he has no pocket presence. The pocket begins to crumble and he just stands there. Sometimes he gets the pass off and sometimes he doesn't...but one thing is for sure, he has NO CLUE that the pocket is collapsing on him. We are now 1-2 in the division and have a huge freakin' hole to dig out of
Wake is a beast and I truely love watching his emotion and skill and I see nothing but improvement from him as the season progresses.
Bess is a huge bright spot for us....the go to person for the 3rd and long like Politte is the go to person on 3rd and short. -
I don't think being young has anything to do with the loss last night. It's still football. Correctly blocking on field goals and punts are things you learn when you're 5. You either do it the right way or you don't.
New England is younger than young on defense and they were able to make plays. What's 'our' excuse? -

less than 3 years ago, we were the worst team in the league, and completely void of talent. how long does it take to be complete, and compete in this league, I highly doubt the length of time it takes to accomplish that is on par with some peoples expectation's this year. -

Them being 3 and 0 against scrub teams does not make your point valid Jake....
your upset because your team didnt perform where you expected them, its understandable..iam just saying those expectations might be off a year..
I still would like to know why Sparano said his team should be embarrassed?..cause if that's true, its a direct inditement of himself...The job of a coach is to get the best out of your team...
I have a feeling this special teams is directly and indirectly responsible for both losses.AbideN703 likes this.
