A dream does not officially die in football until you step on a plane headed out of town, and for that the hopes of Rolly Lumbala to remain with the Miami Dolphins remain in limbo.
The Lions were told the Calgary blocking back was on a plane headed home Monday but that was before the Dolphins called. Yes, they'd cut him a day or two earlier, but their practice roster was still undergoing alterations.
Lumbala was asked to stay for a few more days while the Dolphins worked things through and of course he accepted. It is also very reasonable to conclude that request also came with a financial incentive for his trouble.
