Baalke is the one who reached for AJ Jenkins last year. Had Ireland took Jenkins that early even more fans would want his head on a silver platter.
Ireland like everyone has not done everything badly, but he's done more bad than good, much more, and idiotic too.
I'm indifferent when it comes to Ireland. He has his strengths (good value on 1st round picks, late rounders, grabbing "acorns"), and his weaknesses (inability to hit on second rounds picks -- Sean Smith possibly notwithstanding, possibly not being able to work with Philbin). So... meh.
True though much of that team was built by Scot McLoughlan, especially along the Ol and front 7. Baalke did a good job in the 2011 draft hitting with Smith and C Kaep.
Brooks off of the scrap heap, signed Justin Smith, and most importantly they were will positioned to acquire dominant talent like Willis and Davis, this is something most fans do not realize Miami suffered through. Consistently picking in that 11-18 range just moves you away from Elite physical talent. Wasn't Ginns fault, but if you look at the draft that yr that was a huge negative as what 4-5 guys who dominate the league where in that draft. This is why moving up for Dion Jordan was a great move, not taking at LT at #3 was another solid decision
