Our GM league is taking sign ups for the new season, some knowledgeable posters get to take control of a team and see if you turn them into a better team. We have a real salary cap, a real draft, awards voted upon at the end of the year aswell. Only a handful of teams are left, just do us a favor and only start if you plan to finish. Warning it can be addictive. As a bonus this season the winner gets too rub on Phinsational's wifes F.U.P.A Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2 MOD EDIT: Sign up here: http://www.thephins.com/forums/showthread.php?74228-2013-GM-League-Team-Selection-Thread
Yes. We usually dictate the line order upon success of your team. Trust me you dont wanna have sloppy 32nds. Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
I've always wondered exactly how you decide if someone has done a good job. What is the criteria by which you're judged?
Love to have you back man. It is great fun. But it is work... it's not easy... however, if you're on this message board daily anyway, spending upwards of half hour to an hour reading or participating or whatever (I have no idea what you'd be doing if neither, probably don't want to know), then you probably have time for this!
says the guy who spent hours pondering if he wanted to trade for Antonio Gates for a late 1st or not.
the trade was fair at the time (it was what three years ago?). Yet it wasn't immediately decided upon.
Do you want a talent-less team so you can challenge yourself to build it, or are you hoping for a talent-laden team to gradually run into the ground?
We'd love to have you. hmmm details? The "league" runs from roughly now till mid/late April when final rosters are due. You take over a team (after submitting your top five teams that you want). Rosters are essentially frozen as of the end of the 2012 season. The draft picks the team was due are now yours to use as you see fit. Salary cap amounts are dished out. You may have to cut to get below the cap. A trading period starts the league off. Then free agency (you need to be under the cap when free agency starts). You can only bid on 10 players at a time (although we might have changed it to five, I forget). There's a 24 hour bid process whereby if your bid on a player goes unbeaten for 24 hours you get that player (it's either 24 or 48 hours, forget which). Free agency will typically last about two weeks as far as the main players go. You can franchise tag and or use the transition tag on a player. Restricted players can also be tendered at various levels. Salaries are determined by a couple of different sources and rosters with salaries are posted at the beginning of the league. Then the draft hits. There is a schedule posted as far as when your pick is due by. We have a committee to submit picks (via bulletin) to if you're not around to keep things moving along. If a team misses their pick, the committee makes the pick for them. This will be done twice IIRC and then the team forfeits the rest of their picks. It's a full draft, with comp picks as well (which can't be traded). At the end, you post your final roster for a vote period. You need to be under 53 players at this time. So you may be cutting drafted players (or choosing not to sign them). Again, winner is determined by vote since we can't take the rosters any further than that. We've done some integrating with Madden but that's all subjective anyway. That's it in a nutshell. We do try to give one of the teams on your top five list to you. But it's not set in stone unfortunately because many want the Dolphins... and this year people have done their homework as far as which teams have lots of cap room, and which teams have multiple first round picks. If you pick one of the other teams in the AFC East, you'll likely get them.
I will probably suck at this and I work nights (ie: sleep during the day which could make drafting a problem), but if there is a spot open....I am interested.
You better join because if I don't get to see many more posts with Amy in them, I will be very very unhappy.
well Roddy, if you take over a crap team like the Bills and proceed to build the best darn defense in the NFL meanwhile still upgrading the offense, you're likely to not win anything.
I'll partake if you'll have me...the folks that used to do the old survivor can vouch that The Mindy Project was active and competitive...
I am actually new to this board but I have done this same type of thing last year on the Denver Broncos message board because I've always been interested in this kind of thing and I had a friend (Broncos fan) tell me they do it. I was very involved and even though I have a low post count, I participate quite frequently but I saw where all the teams are filled on the other thread. Let me know if a spot becomes open please! You won't be disappointed in the participation side of it!
There are no more spots left but if you want to co-gm with me (I have Seattle), PM me. 1st PM wins.....
