The colts will sniff around again, they are signing cats like Andy Alleman to try and fix their Oline, Smiley, bad shoulder and all, is a much better player than Andy Alleman..and I think the Seachickens are going with a Zone Blocking scheme and that would fit Smiley's game as well. P Turner and J Smiley for Ricky Foley and a 6th rd pick?
This is all unfortunate. I really like Smiley, I've always enjoyed his interviews (seems like a pretty good guy) and on top of that he is a really good guard. It's just a shame that his shoulder gives him so much trouble.
Smiley is a good dude, he will land on his feet. Keep in mind, it wasn't that his play with his shoulder not at 100% was terrible, it was however not what Sparano wanted from the G position.
I agree with he both of you. Simely is a good dude and I wish him well. Hes a solid guard and a part of me wishes he wasn't getting moved.
it's not over until the fat-lady sings admittedly not looking good for Smiley @ LG Pod sports a lot of talent straight across the trenches & that is a good thing. let them compete for the start
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernews.aspx?sport=NFL&line=172614 Justin Smiley-G- Dolphins May. 1 - 2:16 pm et The Dolphins are reportedly convinced that OG Justin Smiley's surgically repaired shoulder is shot. Two sources tell the Miami Herald that Smiley has lost his strength in the shoulder since signing with the Dolphins two years ago, and he is no longer able to lift his right arm over his head. Smiley's ability to "punch" at the line has been adversely affected. Knowing this, the Dolphins can't expected to get much for Smiley via trade. He may end up being released. Source: Miami Herald
Too bad, he always seemed like a nice "good ol' boy". Maybe he can begin a coaching career, as he seems to be a real football guy.
I have never understood why teams ban a player from practice facilities. Sure, if he is hurt you may need to restrict what he does but why ban him entirely? It just tells the rest of the league that you are going to cut him.
Just sad whats happening to this dude. He's always seemed like a class act and put other people before himself. I hope he gets to keep playing somewhere
absolutely delusional of course the FrontOffice w/ aware of the the shoulder problem w/ brought up publicly in the papers. they made an informed decision @ the time it w/ the right one, however, things change & so do we all offensive linesmen play out their careers from one injury to the next it's the nature of the beast & the reality of the trenches that is why you try carry six starters amongst the 8 or 9 you keep it is what it is: blood & brutality, there will always be injuries p.s the article is delusional, not you
They def overplayed their hand if his shoulder is shot. Getting any pick would have been good. Too bad.
If teams know, that he isnt going to play, and get cut eventually, I dont see anybody trading for him...much like Porter, they will lose him and get nothing...unfortunately..
Trade him for a 7th rounder if you have to b/c if you cut him, the Jets have a big hole @ LG, Logan Mankins is holding out in New England, and I cant stomach the thought...
