Donald Lee: Will the Pack keep 4 Te's? And Lee has a large contract to be a #4 Te. Stefan Logan: The Panthers Rob Petitti is another name to keep an eye on, he was drafted by the Tuna Cowboys, and can play a couple of roles on the Oline. The other thing to keep in mind is Haynos may miss most of the season, so they will look for a Te who can block, which would mean Sean Ryan, however they also like Developmental Te's, so maybe they see something in Nalbone, or bring in a wildcard as they did with Drew Atchison in 09, or maybe they see something in a FB who can function as a Te like Mike Sellers in Washington..but not Sellers of course. Feel free to add your own thoughts as these are straight out stabs in the dark speculation type things.
Thought I'd add: -Tomlin has said if Logan is going to make it he has to do so as a Returner, the Broncos face the Steelers on SNF this evening for those tuning in. -Rob Pettiti played in the 4th qtr for the Panthers yesterday. -L Coles and A Bryant both were released, Coles is going to retire, Bryant's knee may be shot. -
Well, Stefan Logan is more than likely outta Pittsburgh, Antonio Brown opened the game returning kick offs. Guy averaged 27 ypa and set the Steelers return yardage record for a single season.
Cowboys release S Pat Watkins: http://www.macsfootballblog.com/2010/08/cowboys-release-s-pat-watkins.html He was selected in the last yr of the TunaBoys regime in Dallas, but lost out to UDFA Barry Church so who knows with that one? Seachickens also released Cam Wake's replacement in BC Ricky Foley, though he probably is not a NFLer..but ya never know.
Bengals waive Rashad Jeanty: http://www.macsfootballblog.com/2010/08/bengals-waive-lb-rashad-jeanty.html We took a look at him in the Spring, but he was coming back from a broken leg, if healthy the guy is ST Daemon and a decent starter. The Bengals are LOADED in their front 7, there just was not room for him.
Darren Sharper may be waived: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/08/30/darren-sharper-could-end-up-out-in-the-cold/ Not too hard to replace, the Saints have moved Malcolm Jenkins to FS. Update on Jeanty, when he visited Miami the Staff advised him he needed ankle surgery as he had a torn ligament, the Bungals staff disagreed and it turns out the Dolphins staff was correct. Instead of having the surgery and going on the PuP, the Bungals simply waived him..
Pads seems like Logan escaped the first round of cuts.... Steelers waived FB Dwayne Wright, OT Adrian Jones, CB David Pittman, and LB Brandon Renkart.
I doubt he is released outright until the last moment FY, someone will pay a late round pick for him.
Bubble guys, some interesting names: Gosder Cherilus OT Lions Jason Spitz G/C Packers http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/NFL-cutdown-deadline-players-to-be-cut-traded-2010-preseason
Don't laugh, but I could see a Jason Allen for Gosder Cherilus trade. Most of the players Cap listed are kinda washed up Wr types. One guy I do have an eye on is Travis LaBoy on the 49ers, we could use some good OLB depth.
Cardinals G Reggie Wells is on the trading block: He has a 64 game consecutive starting streak, and played in the SB and playoffs.
Look's like you can cross Cherilus off the list. Also what about Greg Olson any chance of swapping a low pick?
Olsen's asking price is probably a #2 pick PRD, even if they'd take a #3 he is way behind the learning curve for things such as the Wildcat. Plus adding DMart makes Olsen's skills not as in demand. Anyone know if Jansen can play Guard as well?
Before Moore emerged Crayton would have been a viable option, now there is little chance we make a move for Crayton..though there is a chance.
Surprising really, maybe some behind the scenes situations but Davis looked like he played well, but Singletary apparently isn't buying what Davis's game is selling.
