No, I'm saying that I couldn't log into PSN at all. I booted up my PS3, tried to login, was prompted to change my password, but couldn't. When I tried to change my password again, I got a maintenance error. I couldn't log into PSN period. Couldn't run netflix, couldn't get games online, etc. I know the Store is down and should be down for awhile. However I should have been able to login. Other experienced this too http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/15/playstation-network-down-may-15_n_862212.html
good, it's not just me then. I only have two possible passwords for a 4-digit code, so when it didn't work I freaked out that it was some password I didn't remember. It sucks, but at least it's slow progress
Word from Sony is that they had so many password registrations that the servers were overloaded and they had to take them offline for a while.
Anybody been getting calls from weird numbers? Been happening to me a lot lately. Googled the number and it's linked to phishing scams. Might not be related, but the timing is peculiar.
PS Store is now back up and operational in North America. Edit: Getting error codes when trying to browse categories, though.
It's back! My L.A. Noire DLC is downloading quite nicely! And I got a whole bunch of extra stuff as well. Pretty cool considering that I just beat the game on Tuesday. Provincial timing.
Sony was hacked again. Sony Pictures, this time. A different group that’s somewhat like Anonymous stole 1 million passwords and accounts and released them online… then blamed Sony for their releasing them online.
Let's be real, people born in the 20's through 40's who are online have probably already had their info compromised (or phished) multiple times by now.
No wonder Hollywood hasnt tried to do a updated version of Revenge of the Nerds, sh*t the Nerds do in real life would be too hard to top.
love how the "security" firms are the ones really hacking the sites. It's like a lawyer causing a car accident.
BTW, I'm getting an error code... so the 2 free d/ls aren't accessible... also, wouldn't expect them to be on a Friday night....
No… they’re not. Where did you get this idea from, their self-description of being “security experts”?
I know what I know... as opposed to John Elway... Every time there is an online hack reported on TV, they interview a security expert who promotes their firm. It's not difficult to follow the trail.
Those talking heads are on retainer by the networks. It’s not a case of them instigating a hack and then the news channels miraculously picking them out of the phone book to consult on a story.
this is a disaster. it let me on the network...i click on free ps3 game 1, selected the game. then it told me i needed to purchase the item. i did so to no charge. then it disappears. i wanted infamous. it doesnt show it downloading and the "free ps3 game 1" icon is now used up...sweet
It's "used up" because it registered that you selected it. There are ways to recover it from your account with just a few easy steps. This has been going on all day. I don't know why anyone would expect this to be smooth, given the number of people likely trying to claim things.
some might work on retainer... others are just interviewed and then low and behold, below their name appears their security firm name... hey look, free plug. mmm hmmm
So, how did the news network know that the security firm in question was the one who hired the hackers?
well i didnt get any errors up until after the transaction. thanks for posting the fix. i went in and then got an error lol. oh well.
i would have rather just have them wait until it was smooth. now im just in limbo with this. i mean, if i dont get my free games its not a big deal sony must be scrambling right now.
