I am seriously debating it. I haven't played Soul Calibur since the original on the Dreamcast but I believe I'll pick this one up since I don't have any sort of fighting game on my PS3 yet.

So if someone on this board was able to get an early copy of the game and review it somehow it would greatly influence me on whether or not to get the game. That is if I can find someone that could do that. :shifty:

Probably just a rental for me if only to see the SW characters in action.

I don't get piracy. If the game's worth playing, it's worth at least renting if not buying outright.

Anyway, definitely planning on getting it. I may not get it at launch, since FF4DS comes out a few days beforehand (and it's paid up via preorder) but I'll definitely play it. Here's hoping they didn't focus on the extraneous features to the detriment of the singleplayer, ala SC3.

I agree to an extent but how much are these gaming losing due to piracy. I mean the gaming industry has been growing exponentially over the past few years so I don't see how its harming the industry. Maybe your just disagreeing with it on moral grounds however, I don't know.:wink2:

    Quite a bit.

"They won't miss it" doesn't justify theft.

I agree that morally, pirating games isn't right but charging $60 for these games isn't either.

It just seems to me if the gaming industry is growing that pirating can't be a big problem and I would think jobs are being gained.

This link suggests that the game industry is catching the movie industry now:
    http://www.gamespot.com/pages/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=26464499&sid=6193240&om_act=convert&om_clk=morenews&tag=morenews;title;8

I don't think there are enough people pirating to even make a dent.

How is charging $60 for a game wrong?

Piracy is so wide spread on the PC that many developers are abandoning the platform.

I think Pirates are all greedy a-holes that should be mamed and beaten... on that note, I can't wait to get home!

Truth is, (and this is NOT a shot at anyone here, we all have our beliefs/feelings) most people that complain about piracy only do so because they don't have the means to do so themselves. I've been crap-talked countless times for some of my practices... Then get PMed days later to ask me how to help them do the same thing (no names, but I'm not joking). Given the opportunity to play games for free, most people would do it. With as many mediocre games out there, $60 is hell to pay for a game these days.

I've always said to buy great games. But because I like games so much, I don't want to spend $60 to play a game worth $30... or $10. The industry will be fine. So will the gamers. So will the games.

Game development costs are going up. They have to charge more.

The industry is growing, but development team size is expanding at a rate greater than that of the industry. For all the millions of dollars being raked in, very little of it makes its way to the developers. The publishers are taking it all. It's becoming like the music industry.

So, yes, your piracy is hurting the people who make the games in the first place.

mor, if you don't want to spend $60 on a game not worth it, just rent.

Piracy is one of the main reasons we do have so many sequals and games that just seem the same. The problem is that the Pirates are generally the ones who would actually buy those types of games. Games that if they sold 10,000 more we would see more of them.

Well first off I don't pirate games mainly because I am too lazy to do so. However I do admit that I don't buy many games because of the price and only get my must haves. Which I believe a lot more people are doing so now more than ever.

Also I don't advocate piracy but I don't blame people that do it because I could see myself doing it and I don't see it as an evil practice. I think mor said it best in his post with the points he made. Maybe I'm an anarchist or something I don't know. :wink2:

I don't pirate games, but if I had the means I would certainly pirate some. There are some games I would like to try, but know I would have no interest in paying full price for. Also some games are very hard to find, and I would not want to pay more than MSRP for them.

I tend to buy half my games used, and those are games I do not mind waiting for. Some games I don't like to wait for though and will buy new, though I try and catch sales whenever possible.

I pay Blockbuster 20 bucks a month and take whatever game I want for however long I feel like it. Seems like a pretty good deal. I know the mail in services are probably slightly cheaper but I don't like waiting for the mail.

Back to the thread topic, I saw a rumor on the net that Kratos would be in this one, but it's not true. Too bad.

Yeah, it isn't that much more than the mail services once you looked past their special intro offers and whatnot. I think I remember gamefly's price was around 17 or 18 bucks for one game. I live a mile and a half from blockbuster and I don't have time to play too many games at once anyway. To me it's worth it to not have to wait in the mail for stuff. I used to have an account with gameznflix.com and let me tell you it sucked. I had this prepaid six item out plan that seemed like a steal. That is until they went two months without sending me anything. I had the service for around a year and a half and I think they sent me something I wanted in a timely manner once (twilight princess on gamecube right after it was released). I could never get PS3 titles I wanted. I got motorstorm sent to me 10 months after I put it in my queue.

The game on XBLA is Soul Calibur 1, a Dreamcast launch title and sequel to the Playstation's Soul Edge. We're talking about Soul Calibur 4, comes out on the 29th for PS3 and 360.

Amazon sent out an e-mail flyer with SC IV: CE (PS3) for $39.99 and Madden 09: CE (PS3) for $49.99.

They have it on slickdeals.net and cheapassgamer right now. Not sure if the price match will work on versions other than the PS3.

I bought it today and it rocks. Except my 8 yr old niece keeps killing me.:tantrum: I have never played Soul Caliber before so I can't compare it to the previous ones but it is fun as hell.... definitely worth the 60 if you have it.

I a big Darth Vader fan so i went with the PS3 version. From what I read Yoda was pretty unfair to fight against anyway. I really pleased with the game though.
