Bad news for the Jets. Owners were trying to make it so their top 3 FA's would essentially be RFA's where they had seven days to match any offer the player agreed to. This would have caused problems because this will be a sped up FA period. If on the sixth or seventh day a team matched the offer, you would be screwed on finding another FA at that position. Now, we can make offers to guys without worrying about that issue.
The 72-hour window will be in place. So we're likely looking at Friday-Sunday to re-sign our own free agents, and then the free agent bonanza starts Monday. And we're back to the old rules for 4-year UFA.
