    This works out well for teams like us who are looking for FA's rather than trying to retain them. Bad news for the Jets. Owners were trying to make it so their top 3 FA's would essentially be RFA's where they had seven days to match any offer the player agreed to. This would have caused problems because this will be a sped up FA period. If on the sixth or seventh day a team matched the offer, you would be screwed on finding another FA at that position. Now, we can make offers to guys without worrying about that issue.

    The 72-hour window will be in place.

    So we're likely looking at Friday-Sunday to re-sign our own free agents, and then the free agent bonanza starts Monday.

    And we're back to the old rules for 4-year UFA.
