Peyton Manning is in the middle of a difficult breakup with the Indianapolis Colts, and it appears he's ready to run into the arms of another NFL team.
An NFL source says Miami is on the short list of teams Manning would like to play for when/if the Colts release him to avoid paying a $28 million bonus, which is due on March 8.
Manning and his wife own a condo on South Beach and a source said they'd love to relocate to South Florida if the fit is right. A second source confirmed Manning's interest in the Dolphins..''
''Playing for the Dolphins would allow Manning to remain in the AFC, and the Colts are on Miami's schedule next season, which is an added bonus.''..
Pretty interesting stuff..not 1 source, but 2..

I understand those that are citing Manning's health risks moving forward and that he's "not a long term" fix at QB even if he is healthy.
Regardless, this type of QB does not become available very often.
It's worth the risk if Ross is willing to gamble the cash.
If Manning is healthy enough he can immediately turn this team into a contender for the next couple years.
Ireland just needs to keep his head on straight and still be looking for a future QB if we pulled the trigger on getting Manning.
If Manning checks out we have to pursue him. -
If his arm is good by the time we get into conversations with him there is nobody I want more in free agency, Time to get a real QB.

Peyton Manning in a Dolphin uniform would look great. Hell, CallMeDaddy's sig looks awesome. But, it's just too risky. He will likely command a 2 year deal that would pay him around 16 to 18 million annually. I don't care what Quaterback it is, we can't afford that risk.

There is NO risk with Manning if he can throw the ball as per usual. He has been cleared medically and there are no lingering effects of the surgery on his vertebrae. We would give him a workout before signing and if his passes are strong, you HAVE to sign him. I repeat, a strong armed Manning is ZERO risk.
After the past 16 years of QB play, we are in NO position to pass on PEYTON MANNING. This isn't Carson Palmer here. Not Josh Freeman. Not Mark Brunell. PEYTON MANNING. -

There's no way Peyton will expect to get paid what he did in Indy. If he starts every game and gets us into the playoffs he will get closer to what he got in Indy with incentives.

The one thing that gives me pause is losing out on Matt Flynn. Sure, a healthy Manning may help us compete for a couple years but I think Brady is still better at this point.
If we take Flynn, we have potential to rule the post-Brady East. -

Manning has to blow them away in his workout with us and the medical folks, that's the only way I see him getting signed here. A reasonably healthy Manning is the best of all worlds, even at 36. It still gives you 2 yrs to groom your youngster...If we do get Manning, it won't be this year that we get Tannehill....This has become a weak QB draft class. Luck and RG3 will be gone before we pick or will cost more than Philbin and company want to give up to get them. Heck, I don't think Tannehill will be available at 8/9 and that's too high to take him. In the second round, Weeden may be available, but why get a 28 yr old QB that will have to sit for another year or so before he plays ??
Aside from all this, I think the talk of Manning to here is just talk. Manning is positioning himself to move on from the Dolts, no doubt, so all these reports of lists where he'd like to go may very well be just smoke...but where will he end up...it'll probably be somewhere that hasn't been mentioned at all yet... How about Jax with a new owner and a need ?? Or Buffalo ?? -

Personally, I don't think it's nearly as big a risk as some would have you believe.Moves likes this. -
I posted this yesterday in Club and I still feel this way.

Peyton Manning + Ryan Tannehill seems very likely at this point.

However, I wonder if the FO doesn't use our first rounder to get help for a Super Bowl run with Peyton. Maybe drafting an OL (Rieff, Martin, Decastro), or WR (Blackmon, Floyd, Jeffrey) or even Trent Richardson.
Just food for thought. -

I think is no need to draft a WR with first round, Vincent Jackson is a free agent...

The bigger question would be, is Manning looking for a situation or a bigger payday? A situation would probably make us the front runners, a payday might be a bigger question considering who will be in the market. Of the front runners, Washington, Seattle, Miami etc, who will have the most cap space to play with?

If we sign peyton, I would assume that means he's healthy. I would not use a first on a QB. Maybe and probably next year, but definitely not this season.

The only other team who may want to take him in the first may be Seattle, but knowing Pete Caroll he is thinking "Lets tank for Barkley." -
However, by signing Manning you are saying "we're taking a run at the Super Bowl now."
And if that's not the plan, signing Manning is pointless.
With that being said, I think it might be wise to draft someone in the first who will help in winning the Super Bowl. you can always address QB later with likes of Osweiler, Foles, Wilson, Cousins, etc.
Again, just food for thought. -
I'll bet a mortgage payment on it. -
Who would you rather have on the team than Aaron Rodgers, that isn't a QB? Ed Reed? Adrian Peterson? Clay Matthews? Gronk? Every time you pass up the best QB prospect (by your own grading) for a prospect at another position, you are making that choice. You are saying eff Rodgers, I want Gronk.
You take the best available QB until you find a franchise and that franchise QB is under 30. -

QB's potentially available:
Manning
Flynn
Luck
RG3
Tannehill
Teams that will/might be looking for a QB:
Indy
Miami
Washington
Cleveland
KC
Jets
Jax
Tenn
Seattle
NE - yes...that NE
I don't think Manning would be too interested in NY because Rex is the big fish there or perhaps Rex won't be too interested because he may not be the bigger fish with Manning there... But the bright lights and his brother could sway him to go in that direction.
Jax and Tenn worry me the most. There hasn't be a lot of talk from either camp. Peyton played his college ball in Nashville. Jax has a new owner who seems to be a bit of a screwball and could really gum up the works with a big offer to Peyton...
Indy has the #1 pick and Luck is their choice.
Cleveland has the #4 pick and likely will be able to get either Luck or RG3 so they won't feel the need to overspend for Manning (and likely can't given the small market). Additionally, if they feel that someone could try to jump ahead of them, they have extra ammo (2 first round picks) to make something happen.
Washington @ 6 could be assured of Tannehill, but he worthy of taking that high ?? If they don't deem him worthy, then they could be in the Manning sweepstakes given the owners deep pockets and willingness to make extravagant deals. Wash might not be Manning's preferred destination, but let's not kid ourselves, money plays a big part with Manning. Additionally, playing twice a year against his brother could be a draw...
Miami has 8/9 pick. Too early for Tannehill, in most guru's heads. We have the Philbin connection with Flynn, who would be able to make a better assessment of his capabilities. But, Ross wants a splash...Manning would be that splash... and give Philbin more options come the draft to plug the holes in this team.
Seattle - pick after us, but just about in line with Tannehill. They can't be too satisfied with who they have on the roster and have spent some picks to get those guys... Their owner has pretty deep pockets as well, so that could be draw for Peyton's services.
NE - I know they have Brady, but they also have two picks in the first round and 2nd round (not sure about the 3rd). They have fewer holes to fill...what if they jumped up there and tried to get into the RG3 sweepstakes ?? That moves a everyone down a notch. I don't, in any way, see them going after Manning, but RG3 could be a possibility...they have Mallet who they think highly of, and Brady is mortal and they have to look forward and more importantly, they have the potential ammo to make a move like that. RG3 would fit very well in that system and could gum up some works for other teams....
Now, it's more likely that three of these teams will be set by draft time...Indy is undoubtedly going after PM part deux with Luck. Peyton will likely fill one of the open slots and Flynn will fill another...
I still contend that Miami will not wait for the draft. They will either go with Philbin's recommendation on Flynn or Manning and use the draft to fill the other holes in the squad...Leaving the QB for the draft is too much of a gamble for Ross to allow... -

My hopes. They're up.
