DAVIE - While the real evaluation won't take place until the players have pads on, this weekend's minicamp provided the Dolphins coaching staff with hints about what they have in their rookies and free agents. And not all of it has been favorable. The Dolphins haven't liked what they've seen from a conditioning standpoint. Head coach Tony Sparano said he didn't like the way players tapered off at the end of Saturday morning's session, and addressed it with them. link to rest of story http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/football/pro/dolphins/sfl-0503dolphins,0,6169.story
I see this as a good thing. Our vets are apparantly really busting it in offseason workouts this year and the staff wants the rookies to be in shape too. I keep having flashbacks of that Redskins game last opening day where we just ran out of gas in the second half. Looks like that won't be an issue this year.
Hmm, seems like Coachspeak for "We are going to run you until you die when TC opens, be ready for it".
good. lets whip these boys into shape!!! Dont care if theyre rookies or veterans. workt hem like theyve never been worked before.
I have no concerns over their conditioning once the season rolls around. Sparano and co. will have them tip top shape imo.
Conditioning was a major issue last year. The defensive vets (Zach, JT, Porter) took a while to get into game shape and the defense consistantly wore down in the 2nd half. Hopefully these young kids take their job seriously enough to get into game shape asap.
