Al Johnson was brought into be a center and know's my system. Think Samson sees the writing? Miami Dolphins: Aquavision
I don't think we need to throw Samson under the bus... he handled wilfork fine three times.. I think something is wrong and he is not able to weild 100% of his strength.. maybe I should say I "hope" he is dinged and that what we are seeing will fix itself in the offseason.
Johnson is a six-year veteran that has spent most of his career as a backup. He started in Dallas for a while, but the organization (which Parcells, Ireland, and Sparano were a part of) decided that they were in need of an upgrade. He then went to the Cardinals, where he started 14 games but then went through two separate knee surgeries. The guy is a former second-round pick and is a real big, but I don't think that his signing qualifies as "writing on the wall" for Satele.
Not at all. Especially not now since Smiley is out for at least the rest of the year. Johnson should hopefully allow us to retool and regroup our battered OL. Once again, that word is hopefully.
Wow! I went to aquavision to hear this emphatic statement. Instead of some emphatic statement, I get a lethargic coach stating: "A guy that has played two positions. Really brought here more to be a little bit more of a center but has flexibility........knows my system so he will not have learn. It's really good as we will have to use new people. Whether it's Al or somebody else." What gives?
So it sounds like he can plug Al Johnson in at either position because he is flexible and can play right away(!). In the middle of a playoff hunt and we are using Street Free Agents on the Oline, I bet he plays swing guard..
He might be down about Smiley. He probably wishes this isn't something he even has to discuss. Or he might not be happy with Johnson and it was BPA for the position they needed. Just a thought.
Yes I'm sure that is the part of the reason for the mood. I'm just not so sure that the interview has written anything on a wall for Samson Satele.
This is a depth move not an intent to replace Satele IMO . Having said that I would not be surprised if Sateles replacement is traded for or drafted next year.
The important thing is that Johnson was acquired on Saturday. He was brought in before Smiley went down to backup the center position so Alleman could spend more time at Guard. That would suggest Sparano likes Alleman at guard and they liked Johnson rather than this simply being desperation move.
