what the hell? screw them. like zod said i hope we advance. if we win the big one then they'll wish they'd never done that... i know it might seem like a pipe dream but anything less isn't the goal.
the falcons will be terrible next season. the football gods don't let the falcons have two winning seasons in a row!!
I think these awards shouldn't be decided until after the part that matters. The Playoffs. I don't think that players or coaches not in the playoffs shouldn't be able to win the award, but if a player lights it up in the playoffs (along with quality play in the regular season) they should be named MVP /OPoY /DPoy/ Coy or whatever. Because they've been more valuable to their team if they've helped them progress in the playoffs, where it's one and done.
Piss poor timing in my opinion. Why now wait ti lafter our game, if we win Sparano should have got it. Atlanta looked way out of their league yesterday.
Dolphins are the anti-present day NFL - no stars, just a team. Sparano coaches a bunch of nobodies. I'm not surprised at all. Nevermind star-loaded teams don't always do so hot (e.g., Cowboys, NYJ), the NFL wants stars. Same reason Manning gets nod for MVP over Pennington.
Hard to understand that a guy who takes a team from 1-15 to 11-5 and a division championship isn't coach of the year, especially since Mike Smith got out coached in the desert yesterday.
I'm glad (PS he lost by 1 vote), this team plays best when over looked. Just maybe the team plays with a bigger chip on there shoulders because of this, they seem to love the guy!
Well then robbed by one vote. How can Sparano win the division and the coach of a wild card team get the nod over him? A lot has to do with the league and the media ready to crown Ryan as the second coming.
Agreed, your not snubbed when you lose by 1 vote. Plus the Parcells shadow casts over him which made him lose votes.
I agree.....and to stuff in the Dolphins face that they didn't take him with the 1st pick. After watching Ryan yesterday, he really didn't look all that special. I still think we made the right pick for our future. The OLine is much better because of Long.
Good point, CNC. He lost by a single vote to a guy that helped turn around a franchise that was in complete shambles after the Michael Vick debacle. Would I have liked to have seen Sparano win it? Of course. But I'm sure that he would take a playoff win over a Coach of the Year trophy.
I'm not a Ryan fan, but after a shaky start, he looked very special, he carried that team, they could not run the ball.
I agree with your premise, but anyone that has followed this team knows differently and that this is Sparano's team, and that Parcells has a "ghostly" shadow right now, and not a in-your-face presence.
I am interested to see how big of a media darling Ryan is next season when there's a years worth of film on him ala Romo. Besides, as mentioned earlier, Atlanta has never put up back to back winning seasons in their history. P.S. anyone else think their already posing Ryan for the cover of Madden?
Screen passes and 5-7 yard routes that are your first read aren't special. The only really impressive throw he made was down the field to White where White dropped the ball. Other than that whenever he had to make more than one read he had issues.
This is based on a point system. Sparano and Smith each received 30 points. The difference is how they got to 30 points. Sparano received 6 1st place votes to Smiths 7 1st place votes. Here is the break down: http://www.nflgridirongab.com/2009/01/02/smith-sparano-share-nfl-coach-of-the-year-award/
So at the end of an NFL game I guess if: Miami Scores: 3 FG's Baltimore Scores: 1 TD and a Safety Baltimore should win because of how they got those points. They put it in the endzone right? It's not how many you get it's how you get them right? I think thats wrong.
so he;s the usa today co-coach of te year. but no the NFL coach of the year? F the USA today...who gives a cap about them, why do they even bother...just to confuse and annoy me specifically?
