Notebook: Dropped passes irritate Dolphins coach http://www.palmbeachpost.com/dolphi...0806dolphins.html?cxtype=rss&cxsvc=7&cxcat=46
That's pitiful that they're dropping passes. Like Sparano said, they've been doing it since their six and are getting paid, yet they can't catch 'em. They may not be the best throws but if you get more than a couple fingers on it, you bring it in. I wouldn't be surprised to see some guys added. Eric Parker is still out there but is not healthy. Glenn is still out there but he's not the healthiest guy. I still think Glenn comes in. I expect additions to be made come cuts/waiver wire. I know Parmele has been dropping passes and Martin seems to drop at least one every day he's out there. Its not really a surprise with Martin but it is still sad to hear that he continues to drop these. I wish he pointed out specifically who was dropping the passes from the receivers.. If this continues through the regular season, we're going to be in trouble. I think if he is looking for STer at the FB spot then it looks like Boomer will win this job. However, Sparano has said that he may not keep any FB's on the team. I'm not sure how much you can take that comment in but it does make it a bit interesting.
"Again this has a lot to do with what we're going to see here in a couple days " is he referring to the Bucs game or is he referring to bringing in another veteran receiver /cuts?
I love how Sparano makes a statement, then follows it up with his own intensifying modifier.... Ex: We dropped too many passes today...really just way too many passes. This guys is doing great...he really is. We are excited about this guy...we really are. No big deal, just an observation. Maybe thats just common New England speak. But since I don't get north of Interstate 10 much, its not something that I am real used to.
Here's the whole quote: Looking at it in context now, he seems to be referring to the upcoming Bucs game.
Yeah, it seems like he is referring to the game. The thing is that quote seems to be placed in the middle of no where on the write-up. They could have put it after he mentioned the Buc game lol.
Im glad he is telling the media how he is not pleased with these dropped passes. Quotes like, "They've been working with these quarterbacks since the day they got here. It's not like we have different quarterbacks rolling in and out of here that you have to worry about the velocity or any of those things," and "We just need to concentrate better on catching the ball. This is not just the receivers, our backs; we've had some problems with that in the scrimmage as well. We didn't catch the ball clean; we need to catch the ball." , shows Sparano does not try to hide the bad things by proclaiming the good things. He knows what our weaknesses are and he isnt scared of pstating them publicly... getting the message to the players...
I'm on record for being biased against "the bubble" but it seems to me when they practice indoors in the Afternoon, the next morning they drop passes all over the place. Just sayin' here, I don't have the time nor inclination to go back through each days TC thread, but since they went inside when Nasty's trip was canceled due to rain, since then the drops have happened more frequently.
Seems like all this team has done in recent years is drop every effin ball. Time to sign a deal with Elmer's or something to manufacture our gloves.
GOOD. start Beck, maybe throw McCown in later.... don't play Henne until the 3rd or 4th preseason game.
Maybe "what we're going to see here in a couple days" means he's going to cut a bunch of stone hands after the game. When's the next cut date? [Edit to include the following:] Nope, August 25 is cut to 75 on roster. Nevermind.
