I feel sorry for sparanos family. They must walk around in disguise. I'm sure tonys a nice guy and a hard worker, but a head coach he isn't. So I do feel sorry for his family I don't know how many kids he's got or how old they are but it must be tough when people know your last name is Sparano. Mr. Ross please end this charade, the sooner the better this can't go on much longer. If not for the fans then for his family. He's probably too proud to resign so please take him out of his misery.
Its not just the fact that they're losing but they're doing it by making obvious mental mistakes and that is a coaching problem. You can see the talented players on this team slowly self destructing with abominable gaffes, like Marshall stepping out of bounds. People are *****ing about Marshall, Wake, Burnett, Dansby, Hartline, Long who aren't playing very well. Believe me if they were on other teams
they would be performing at the level they are expected to. But when you've got probably the worst coach ever in the nfl its going to affect the play making ability of all your players.
It doesn't matter who gets traded or who we pick up it'll be same old, same old as long as this regime is in charge.

I actually think it's pretty cool to have a father who was an NFL head coach at one time.

No sir, Sparano is to blame for all this, but the players aren't doing their jobs either...they need to make plays and they are not...siciliansith, Tone_E, DOLPHANITY and 1 other person like this. -
I am sure that in his personal life, Sparano is probably a great guy. As far as how all the heat he is getting as the Dolphins head coach and its effect on his family goes, it comes with the job. Sparano has been in coaching for a long time and I have no doubt his family is keenly aware of the ups and downs of his job. I'm sure they don't appreciate the criticism he is receiving from the media and the fans, but they have millions of reasons to get over it. Sparano signed a two year extension after the Harbaugh incident and when he is eventually terminated from his position as head coach of the Dolphins. Sparano will walk away with several million dollars for the remaining two years on his contract. I am sure these millions will sooth the pain of all the insults he has received from the fans and media.
With the economy being as bad as it is today. I certainly have a problem feeling sorry for someone who will be paid millions of dollars for being a failure at his job. Sparano knew what he was signing up for when he took the job. If he had come in and turned the organization into a championship caliber team, everyone would be singing his praises and he would have an expressway named after him. Since he did not turn the team around and instead the team has gone in the other direction, he instead suffers the scorn of the fans and media. Sparano and his family will be just fine. They will have millions of dollars to sit on until Sparano finds another position as an offensive line coach in the NFL, which I have no doubt he will be offered sometime in the near future. -

Ah, while we fans are the original source of the $$, it was Ross decision to pay him... You have to feel sorry for him/them, as people, but not because they won't be financially taken care of, just on a personal level. At any rate, they/he's been thru this before as has just about any coach so there's no reason to feel sorry for TS the coach... -
I think this is probably hardest on his wife, Jeannette. That's why I have been speculating he might quit before he's fired.
If he doesn't then it's purely about the money involved in the extension. And if that's the case, he might not go back into coaching right away at all. He might just take a few years off and get paid by Steve Ross to do nothing...maybe go on some vacations around the world with his wife or something. -
I know you could probably never get Tony to say anything bad but it would be interesting to get his wife on some of the talk radio shows after Tony is fired or steps down, get her to comment on some of the personalities in the front office, maybe reveal a few behind the scenes things that people don't know. Football wives are good for that.

same here. I also feel sorry for Marshall's family for having a member with hands like bricks and football IQ of a box of raisins. Also' the Columbo brood...

The laughable thing to me is begging to fire him out of sympathy for his family. -
Sparano's son has about as much business coaching in this league as his dad: 0.

Sparano's wounds are self-inflicted; any suffering his family endures is directly HIS fault. I don't feel sorry for any of them.
They can take comfort by enjoying what ever daddy buys them with the absolutely RIDICULOUS money he is being paid for being a complete failure. -
Sparano has clearly failed and should have been fired last season, but petty insults and gross exaggerations are getting ridiculous. Most of the coaches in the NFL on every level have been fired multiple times. He's neither stealing money, nor should he be personally ashamed, nor is he stupid or anything like that.
