As a person, I certainly feel bad for Sparano and his family, but you've got some things wrong. While the blame falls on Tony, because that is the nature of the beast, the coach can only put his players in position to make plays. Whether they do that is up to them. Our players have NOT made plays. The OL seems to have forgotten that the RZ is part of the field as well. Marshall is doing his best Swiss cheese impersonation dropping so many catchable passes that he should consider changing his name to Gruyere. Wake needs to WAKE up and realize the season is in full swing now. Who are Dansby and Burnett ?? Haven't heard about either of those guys all season long so far. To my knowledge I don't think either has made a play except for 7 yrds downfield. Then at RB we've got Reggie-Hide-Behind-The-Bush and Thomas-I-Thought-I-Was-Going-To-Be-Redshirted. We've got the best tandem of CBs in the league, they just forgot which league, I think they meant UFL... And our two safeties have been spectacular with following WRs and TEs down the field after they've made the catches...

No sir, Sparano is to blame for all this, but the players aren't doing their jobs either...they need to make plays and they are not...

 

I am sure that in his personal life, Sparano is probably a great guy. As far as how all the heat he is getting as the Dolphins head coach and its effect on his family goes, it comes with the job. Sparano has been in coaching for a long time and I have no doubt his family is keenly aware of the ups and downs of his job. I'm sure they don't appreciate the criticism he is receiving from the media and the fans, but they have millions of reasons to get over it. Sparano signed a two year extension after the Harbaugh incident and when he is eventually terminated from his position as head coach of the Dolphins. Sparano will walk away with several million dollars for the remaining two years on his contract. I am sure these millions will sooth the pain of all the insults he has received from the fans and media.

With the economy being as bad as it is today. I certainly have a problem feeling sorry for someone who will be paid millions of dollars for being a failure at his job. Sparano knew what he was signing up for when he took the job. If he had come in and turned the organization into a championship caliber team, everyone would be singing his praises and he would have an expressway named after him. Since he did not turn the team around and instead the team has gone in the other direction, he instead suffers the scorn of the fans and media. Sparano and his family will be just fine. They will have millions of dollars to sit on until Sparano finds another position as an offensive line coach in the NFL, which I have no doubt he will be offered sometime in the near future.

 

Ah, while we fans are the original source of the $$, it was Ross decision to pay him... You have to feel sorry for him/them, as people, but not because they won't be financially taken care of, just on a personal level. At any rate, they/he's been thru this before as has just about any coach so there's no reason to feel sorry for TS the coach...

 

I think this is probably hardest on his wife, Jeannette. That's why I have been speculating he might quit before he's fired.

If he doesn't then it's purely about the money involved in the extension. And if that's the case, he might not go back into coaching right away at all. He might just take a few years off and get paid by Steve Ross to do nothing...maybe go on some vacations around the world with his wife or something.

 

I know you could probably never get Tony to say anything bad but it would be interesting to get his wife on some of the talk radio shows after Tony is fired or steps down, get her to comment on some of the personalities in the front office, maybe reveal a few behind the scenes things that people don't know. Football wives are good for that.

 

I am sure that the millions of dollars he is stealing here can ease their pain.

I find it interesting how he got the job handed to him and then he hires his son as an assistant coach.
Form the Parcells model he likes his nepotism up front.
He should have never been a head coach

The laughable thing to me is begging to fire him out of sympathy for his family.

Sparano's wounds are self-inflicted; any suffering his family endures is directly HIS fault. I don't feel sorry for any of them.

They can take comfort by enjoying what ever daddy buys them with the absolutely RIDICULOUS money he is being paid for being a complete failure.

 

Sparano has clearly failed and should have been fired last season, but petty insults and gross exaggerations are getting ridiculous. Most of the coaches in the NFL on every level have been fired multiple times. He's neither stealing money, nor should he be personally ashamed, nor is he stupid or anything like that.

Act like an adult.

If you use this logic, then you might as well say that Sparano is paid by the US Mint. At some point, the connections are so tenuous that they aren't worth acknowledging.

 

I feel bad for anyone who embarrasses themselves publicly and is facing going around for the rest of their life being known as a failure at minimum and in many places as an abject joke.

 

Especially SEC coaches wives; Derek Dooley mother comes to mind. Ann Bowden is another
