Considering Fitz's willingness to restructure his contract just to bring back Boldin, I doubt it will happen. Fitz really wants him back.

The 25th pick ??? He's a very good receiver, he's just not worth that much. To top it off, he'd obviously want a contract extension and more bucks...is he really worth that to us at this point in our development ?? I think not...

Fitz doing that really has no bearing on the situation. they have a lot of cap room and could afford Anquan regardless. thats not the issue, the issue is that Anquan feels like the Cardinals burned that bridge, and he doesnt want to be there.

I wouldn't do it. No way. You have to consider the holes this team has and that 25th pick could really give us an impact player on either side of the ball. We could also trade that pick for more picks in the second/third rounds (Ireland discussed that as a possibility). And it's very possible Nicks could still be there in the early second round. I'd prefer trade down with our pick and stock pile additional picks than trade our pick and aquire the immense salary that will come along with Boldin. I want to see us build through the draft and a select few free agents. I would hate to see us trade still more picks away. That is what hurt us with Wanny and we're just now recovering from it.

 

You need to look harder than giving up a first for Boldin, the patriots found moss for a 4th. And boldin is no where even in the same realm as good a WR as moss.

The cowboys gave up a first and more to get Roy Williams, who was a fine WR in Detroit, and so far looks lost in big D. Good move cowboys.

And to say you can't get a WR as good as him at 25,44 or 56 is just not right. Boldin was drafted in teh second round himself. Plenty of good WR are taken in teh second round. Who's to say Britt, Bey, Robskie or any of the other late first round or second round picks won't be as good as him? Nobody knows that until these draft picks are given the chance to play in a game, and they more than likely won't come to the team with an attitude problem, which boldin has recently displayed in Arizona and 15 million in guarntees' that Boldin will be looking for.

Maybe its something to consider Boldin won't be as good without having Fitzgerald around. He worked well in that system, and he very well could work in ours but there is no guarantee, but he'll want guaranteed money, you'll be paying him for what he did in Arizona, instead of what you expect him to do in Miami. Where a rookie will be trying to earn your future payday.

There were a ton of FA WR last year who all got very decent coin which a majority of them were busts with their new teams.

If our FO can find an undrafted rookie like Bess, i'm fairly confident they don't need to give up a first round pick to get a solidified #1, i think they can manage to find that with their picks, which will be a lot cheaper than Boldin and hence way better value for the Miami dolphins.

I don't see how anybody can say Anquan Boldin isn't worth a 1rst round pick. Considering how many WRs don't pan out and the fact that even the ones that do pan out normally take 3 years to catch up to the speed of the NFL game, Boldin should be considered a bargain for a late first rounder.

Now whether or not he's worth OUR 1st round pick and if he would be valuable enough in our offensive scheme to give up that 25th pick is certainly worth debating. I'll trust the FO to make that decision. Personally I think the pick would be worth it. Instantly gives us a #1 WR and would do wonders for Ginn's development.

Not sure about the 25th pick though. I love Boldin, and having him would bring a great dynamic to this offense, but it doesn't appear that this regime would go that route.

 

You can't use anything related to the Cowboys to prove a point. That team is the exception to every rule.

Who can we draft at #25 that will be more explosive than Boldin? I haven't studied the draft much this year, but Boldin is a proven entity. And he's a big WR, a top-5 need for this team.

I would do it....the # 25 pick guarentee's nothing and Parcell's is human and does make mistakes(see Carpenter) ao if we could get one of the best young Wr's ever(already the fastest in NFL history to 500 receptions) who missed 4 games and still had the numbers to go to the pro bowl.

If we could give the #25 and like a 4th or 5th I would do it, we do still have 2 2nd rounders.

Sure he may get better, but yes as of right now he has not performed to the level of expectations they had for him, in fact he hasn't performed anywhere close to the peformance they paid for him. he's got a long way to go to even get close to the value the cowboys gave up to get him.



Can you deny that? No you can't. But you can come up with many many excuses why he hasn't. But excuses only solidify my point that he has been a bust so far in Dallas.

You say there is no guarantee with the 25th pick, well there is no guarantee with Boldin either.

Culpepper was a "PROVEN" nfl QB. And we all seen how well that worked out. The only guarantee is there is no guarantee. Which is why i rebutt the opinions out there that Boldin will be a guarantee #1 WR because he was in Arizona. You don't know that, no one knows that.

Sure Boldin very well could come here and be that #1 were looking for, which would look great for the 25th pick. But he very well could also be a bust, which would look terrible given teh value placed on first round draft picks.

If I've learned anything in the past decade from watching this team, we didn't start getting better until we got numerous draft picks and used them, not traded them away for "proven NFL players", which more often than not didn't work out for us. Most good teams, perenial playoff teams, build through the draft, not through FA. Boldin for 25? Sure it could work, I just don't think it's the best way to make this team better.

 

An impact player - very possibly. But we do have a QB behind center with serious limitations. Yes, CP is efficient, but how would Boldin fit here? Certainly he would cause the opposing defense to respect both sides of the field and he can stretch it just like Ginn, but who is going to throw it to him? Anquan is a potential big play receiver. But he needs a big play QB. If Henne was in there with his arm, I'd be more inclined to say "make the trade." But Pennington can't throw a deep ball and Boldin is much more than just a possession receiver.

 

The 25th pick is a great value pick. Not only are the chances of getting a good player quite high, they also don't command a very large salary. In getting Boldin, we do get an extraordinarily good WR, but we lose the pick and the cap space.

Depsite all that, I'd love to see him here.

 

I don't think Pennington's arm strength comes into play. Boldin breaks that WR screen play for a lot of big gains. So maybe you take 10 deep catches away from him, but he is still an awesome reciever worthy of a #1 IMO.

 

roy couldnt hold Anquans jock. Roy had 1 1000 yard season in his career, and that year Kitna had over 4000 yards because all they did was sling the ball all over the field.

Anquans averages over 1,000 yards a season in his 6 year career. and that includes one season where he played only 10 games and only had 600 yards.

your talking about a top 10, and possible top 5 WR here. not some guy like roy williams that everyone HOPED would be that.

And there you have it. I don't think he's worth it to us because we don't have a QB that can make plays downfield and our FO is trying to build a run oriented offense. It would also hinder Ginn's development IMO for the very same reason, until we have a QB who can chuck the ball deep with accuracy and consistency, our WR's won't be utilized properly. This is Ginn's 3rd year, it's a big year for him and he has proven that he can be pretty effective when the ball is thrown his way. Bringing in a player who would demand (literally) attention and balls thrown his way would limit what Ginn could contribute in this offense.

IMO our WR's are fine, not great, but good enough for what we want to accomplish out there. The only addition I would like to see is a big red zone body to go up and fight for the tough catches.

 

Considering that we have more pressing issues on the OL, at LB and in the secondary, I think using the 25th pick on a WR is silly considering our offense. Parcells history shows that he values draft picks and doesn't select WR's early, which is pretty much what trading the pick would mean.

 

I really think that Boldin would help Chad's short passing game. He is one of the best at turning small catches into long gains. Ginn would see much less double coverages. He would have more chances for the deep routes. Chad does not have a big arm by any means. But he does still makes plays deep. He would be able to make more deep with Ginn b/c of Boldin's short to mid routes.

I would agree with that 100%...

If Miami felt like their guy would be a reach with the 25th pick, then BP might be up for sending away the pick. It all depends on the draft and the way the players fall...

He would not be my first choice for sending away a 1st...but it would not be a horrible thing by any means. Boldin is a baller and is proven...no rookie is proven, until he plays for a couple of years at a high level.

 

How often did Chad throw deep this year though? When I read comments that Chad can make plays downfield I think back to the Buffalo game where Ginn caught a long pass from Penny and everyone said "See, Chad can pass deep". On the play, Ginn was matched up against a hobbled McGee and while it was a big gain, Ginn had to come to almost a complete stop in order to make the catch, and even though Penny put all of his arm into the throw, it was far from a bullet pass. Chad has to pick and choose which long throws he makes, reserving Ginn to deep routes would limit his impact in a year when he should be making big strides.

I think we should see what we have in Ginn, welcome Camarillo back, let Bess improve on last years performance and look for a guy who can contribute as a big redzone target. JMO though

 

Well there are alot of really good players who will be around at 25, you have Mack, Unger and possibly Robinson who would help the OL. Guys like English, Maualuga, Cushing, etc could all be there when we pick. We could go with one of the secondary prospects at that spot, the draft isn't limited at all IMO. True the players need to prove it on the field, but Parcells and Co. seem to favor drafting young players over trading high picks for proven vets at skill positions.

 

My opinion on this one is somewhat partial.

It’s the 25 pick, but even Parcells said we must improve the offensive side of the ball. That is a fact.

Now, the logic is that this FO goes DE or LOB with every first pick, and that makes sense.

How about this?

For a first round pick, would anyone be opposed to Cameron Wake, AND a top notch WR like Boldin?

I see the Wake signing as that one DE/OLB that we would have drafted.

That now allows us, with Wake and Bolding to go for a DE/OLB or CB in Round 2.

So in the end, no, I’m not opposed to getting Bolding for a 1st,.
