1) Yahoo reports tonight that the Dolphins are expected to remove the transition tag from Olivier Vernon. This would be welcomed news to Vernon, who doesn't oppose staying in Miami if the money is right but is fully aware that the Dolphins don't want to pay him what other teams might. 2) In a perfect world, the Dolphins would prefer to use Cameron Wake as a pass-rush specialist in a rotation with Mario Williams and potentially William Hayes, who remains a top Dolphins target. Whether the Dolphins will bid enough to land Hayes remains the question. But the Dolphins want a third defensive end who can play a ton of snaps, especially on run downs. • The Dolphins would like to upgrade longterm over weakside linebacker Jelani Jenkins if they can because they don't view him as an ideal fit physically in their defense, even though he's cheap and productive. They remain interested in Bengals free agent Vincent Rey, among others. But Jenkins would remain a starter if Miami can't find someone better at a reasonable price. • The Dolphins have shown interest in re-signing defensive tackle C.J. Mosley, who was released Dec. 1 after injuring his calf. If that happens, Miami could return with mostly the same group of defensive tackles: Ndamukong Suh, Earl Mitchell, Jordan Phillips and Mosley. If Miller leaves, Miami will look to find a running back at a reasonable price from a group potentially including Bilal Powell, Ronnie Hillman, and maybe Matt Forte, plus restricted free agent C.J. Anderson (has a low-round Broncos tender) and Alfred Morris (some inside the Dolphins like Morris). http://miamiherald.typepad.com/spor...free-agency-incredible-joe-johnson-numbe.html
Miller is a better RB then all the one's listed. How about we keep the better players on our team. I'm in favor of keeping our best talent and still trying to get better talent to replace them. This way we know we have good depth. If we replace someone like Miller with another (cheaper) Miller, our roster doesn't improve.
We better keep Lamar Miller, I will be pissed if we let him walk. He's poised to have a breakout season if he stays with us. As for Vernon, I have never liked the guy, or should I say, I have never been fully behind him. He was awful last season up until the playoffs were out of reach and then he played well. I would much rather bring Wake back and a pass rush specialist and sign a William Hayes or roll the dice on a guy like Fede or Shelby developing. I will not be shedding tears if we let Vernon walk. Jelani Jenkins is rather perplexing. I thought he was one of our more productive players last year, so i'm not sure why the front office feels this way. Either way he's worth keeping around until we find a legitimate replacement for him. Not sure if Vincent Rey is really the man for that job. We all know how weak the linebacker situation is in Miami, so i'm not so sure it's a good idea to try and change what actually has worked at the position. Sounds like typical Dolphin stuff to me....We don't like Brandon Marshalls attitude, lets replace him with Legadu Nanee.
Miller is better than all those RBs listed, but who cares. The amount of difference and impact on our football team is MINIMAL.
No. Because that's how football is. The impact from one RB to the next isn't all that different. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just land a decent guard...and snacks... and safety...ooh, and another guard. Just get out your spackle gun made of money and let me surface emotionally.
