Major improvement from Friday's practice. They just need time in that new system and I think all will be well, but for some concerns on the right side line. I really hope the Kracken's going full bore on the rook.

Im sure Wake is at the very least working on what ever James is weakest at right now. Its kinda like fighting with your left hand, when your left hand is weakest....repeating it over and over again will only make him better.

DL has the advantage on the OL till pads come on.

The potential for all those WR's is exciting. The disappointment is that we will have to release 1-2. I am so tired of Thigpen - which we could keep the rest.

Perhaps they will perform well enough early in the pre-season we could trade one to a team depleted in exchange for a center? ;)

IMO Gibson is the only one who would be worth anything of value but he has to prove he is healthy in training camp .The progress of Landry could make him expendable.:yes:

This DL has a chance to be special.

Haven't heard anything about Dion Sims lately. It would be nice to see him up his game so he could be a strong blocking TE to help out the right side of the line until James gets up to speed.

Unless Jarvis Landry really shows something special, I'd like to think Rishard Matthews isn't in much, if any, danger of being cut. He's cheap, can play in the slot or on the perimeter, and I'd argue, has the surest hands of any receiver that was on the roster last year.

Seems kind of hit and miss with him. I was following Armando and Omar's tweets re: practice today (don't ask, I was up and bored this morning). Armando seemed to think the #2 spot is Egnew's to lose, then Omar tweets that Sims is the #2 in 2 TE sets with Clay. That said, Omar's roster that he and Chris Perkins put together the first day of camp is littered with so many errors you wonder what team they're actually watching.

If he'd just hung on to the ball on that shallow crosser in the last game vs the Jets. Probably the easiest possible catch he'd had thrown to him all year.

If he catches that ball he might still be running. The was NOBODY near him.

As the Dolphins second round selection in this years draft, Landry is definitely going to make the final 53 man roster, as will Hartline, Wallace, and Gibson. So it isn't Landry who Matthews is competing against for the fifth WR spot on this roster, it is all the other WR's now in training camp he must beat out if he wants to be on the Dolphins team this season.

The WR position is probably the most stacked position on this team. Matthews isn't likely to get much playing time this season as the 5th WR on the team unless there are injuries at the position to the top four WR's. It might be best if Hickey sees if any other team might have an interest in trading for Matthews and the Dolphins keep one of their other young receivers around in the 5th spot.

I happen to like Binns more than Matthews for this 5th spot on the roster. He is a bigger and faster target than Matthews and if he is completely healthy, I just think he has more upset going forward than Matthews.

Obviously Binns hasn't done much in Miami because he was injured all of last season. As far as trading Gibson. I think he was the most productive WR on the roster inside the the red zone last year prior to being injured and missing much of the season. With the type of offense being implemented by Lazor this season, I think it will only increase the value of Gibson to this team.

I think Matthews is a decent player, but I don't see him as anything more than a 5th or 6th WR on this team. He basically had one very productive game last year, but other than that one game, he didn't do much.
I just figure that he can easily be replaced by one of the other WR's fighting for a roster spot and perhaps he might have some trade value. Perhaps they could get a 7th round pick for him from a team which doesn't have much dept at the WR position.

It's a shame that's how he'll be remembered for 2013. He damn near single-handedly kept Miami in that W over the Patriots. Huge catch on the TD drive right before half and huge catch on the go-ahead TD drive.

I don't know, I guess basing it off of Matthews' being in the doghouse at one point or another is one thing. But, I mean, seriously, what's Binns done? He started a few games for the Bengals, even a game against Miami, then got cut. He was not overly impressive with Miami down the stretch in 2012, and like Gibson, is coming off a major injury. As we saw today, I don't think Gibson is 100% and if it comes to the point where Landry jumps him for the 3rd spots, I'd rather keep Matthews at his price than Gibson at his. Just me.

As an aside, it is funny that Binns ended up being the lone member of that potent UC offense to stick more than a year in the league. Tony Pike, now retired, flamed out (that was pretty obviously going to happen if you saw him at UC), Mardy Gilyard, now in the CFL, flamed out. Isaiah Pead is on the way to flaming out in St. Louis. Binns was the forgotten man that year, other than catching the game-winner against Pitt that clinched their Sugar Bowl berth.

Outside of Grimes, who in this secondary is proven? Taylor and Davis are second-year players who contributed sparingly last season; Finnegan's been below average for a couple of seasons; and Reshad had a disappointing year in '13. I like Wilson's versatility, but bntil proven otherwise, I'm concerned that spread-em-out offenses with decent to great QBs will chew us up.

You may end up being 100% correct and Matthews may turn out to be the much better player. I am certainly willing to wait and see how everything works out for both these players during training camp.

I agree that Binns really hasn't done anything so far which shows that he will be better than Matthews. As I stated though, I like his intangibles, especially his size and speed, but obviously these things don't always equate to that player having the ability to to play the game better than someone who is a bit smaller or a little slower.

I just hope that Gibson is able to get over his injury issues and be a major contributor this season. With a top four WR corp of Wallace, Hartline,Gibson, and Landry, if he ends up being as good as many on here seem to think he can be. This unit should be in the top ten WR corps in the entire NFL. If these four can play and remain healthy during the season, it really shouldn't matter who the fifth WR is on the team. Of course injuries are part of the game and therefore this receiver will most likely end up playing at some time over the course of the season. So if it is Matthews, Binns, or even one of the other WR's trying to earn a spot on the roster. I don't really care who it is, as long as they are ready to play at a high level when their number is called.

I think it will be Mathews over binns in the end! Hazel and Williams on the practice squad!
