Beyond the fact Chris Clemons did not make any mental errors against Buffalo (after just two all preseason) here's what Yeremiah Bell loves about him: ``His ability to come from the middle of the field and get to either sideline is incredible, amazing to see. Fastest free safety I've played with, by far.'' . . .

Channing Crowder also has high praise for our defense.
``this is the most talented defense I've been on since my first year [2005], with Kevin Carter, Zach Thomas, Jason Taylor, Sam Madison.'' With the defense's youth, ``we're jumping over the top of people, running to the ball. A lot of older guys get away from that, trying to conserve energy.''

Clemons was a missle week 1. I hope he keeps it up, it could be a stellar asset for our team this year.

    Allow me to repeat myself:

This is the fastest, most athletic defence we have had in Miami since Jimmie Johnson was the Head Coach, and Mike Nolan will wind up being the best Defensive Coordinator since Bill Arnsparger was smoking cigarettes on the sideline and crafting Duhe and Mathison into defensive forces that no one has ever heard of..

So he’s really fast at getting to the receiver after he’s made the catch. That’s not very impressive to me. He needs to become a reliable source of PBUs and INTs, not just tackles. Get there before or as the catch is made, not after.

He inherited the job. Reshad Jones and Tyrone Culver didn’t show enough to contest the will. That says more about Jones and Culver than it does about Clemons.

You should be impressed at how well he tackles, though. And how fast he gets to the ball carrier. He had two TFLs last Sunday, which is very impressive.

Yes, he tackles well. That’s fine. But a free safety should do more than just tackle reliably.

For a young guy starting for the first time in a new defense, I'm very encouraged by his athleticism, physicality and sure tackling. Not to mention the fact that he isn't making mistakes. That in itself is an improvement over last season, when he looked like he had no idea where he was in limited action.

The rest doesn't happen overnight. We're told to be patient with cornerbacks. Same should apply to the free safety.

    I’m all for being patient.

I’m not for breaking out the anointing oil, as Bill Parcells once said of a much better player than Chris Clemons, after one game in which Clemons played the player in front of him, not the pass.

We gave up 139 yards passing. Neither of the two deep attempts where anywhere near him. And Sparano said he made no mistakes.

He must have been doing something right.

We'll know if the defense is for real with the Vikes today and the Pats in the coming weeks.

He was also only inches away from an INT last week too. Picks will come when you fly around the way clemons did in the opener. INTs arent the yard stick for the effectiveness of a safety.

He has to work on the mental aspect of the game. When they ran the no huddle offense he need to get the secondary ready. Other then then that he play lights out.

An interception is the best thing a defense can do. The more they generate, the better the defense.
