http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/ There is more .It looks like will have some interesting battles going on this year.
just keep hearing things about tripp, even if their little rumblings, good sign, always around the ball, quick, can cover, is getting the defenders lined up and making the calls. if he starts at middle linebacker were all gonna have to do hit of acid together.
Because his name is Tripp? Am I the first one to get the reference or am I just adding to it His nickname is now Jordan "acid" Tripp
When I read about how good rookies look in these rookie camps, I always remember what Jim Mandich said several years ago. He stated, " it is easy to look great when you are running around in shorts and no one is hitting you". Mandich pointed out that the difference between looking great in shorts and being great once the hitting starts, is what separates the true NFL players from those who merely look the part during these rookie sessions. Hopefully a few of these rookies will work out and eventually become solid players for the Dolphins. Unfortunately the vast majority of the rookies in this camp will be nothing but a footnote in Dolphin history, once the regular season kicks off in September.
Do most clubs close their rookie camps to the fans and media? I wonder. I wonder how long it will take to find out if any of the rookie tryouts make it.
Quality post and I agree. Most of these guys are just bodies who won't even see preaseason action. However I do think if a guy has college tape you like and he performs well in this camp it gives him a punchers chance at the practice squad
Here's one that's apparently headed to camp. Brett Tessler @TesslerSports 1h Michael Philipp (OT/G from Oregon State) has just signed with the #MiamiDolphins .
The main point of these camps is the mental aspects, and getting the rookies familiar with the team - and for DJ to determine who has the best bod... lol...
Stranger things have happened...and while I'm not counting on it, a re-birth of HoF MLB play for the Dolphins would be an amazing, welcomed sight. I can't see it from anybody in uniform last year.
The thing is, we all know this. I don't see any member of this board that doesn't know this. This is all we have. Why piss in people cereal? Even if all they have is Special K, no need to tell them that it is as gross as it is bad for you. Saying that, I wonder who is going to win the Brian Manning Award. *The Brian Manning award, is an award, awarded by me for the receiver who is awesome in OTAs, but disappear when pads are on. Previous award winners are Robert Baker, J.R. Tolver, Charles Jordan, and Chris Hogan.
Usually, the ones who look good in shorts in mini camps and then disappear when the real bullets start flying are WRs. The Brian Mannings and Kirby Dar Dars of the world.
You made me remember Robert Baker though. That was depressing. I did have selective amnesia working pretty well when it came to him and Tolver.
Micajah Reynolds has been signed by Dolphins according to a source on twitter. Trying to get other verifying information. He is a guy that reminds you of a space eater. He is stout at the point of attack. Some have pointed out there seems to be an element on the defensive line missing that would protect linebackers. A guy like Bowens or Soliai. Reynolds is more like them than Anthony Johnson, Mitchell, or Francis.
I like this headline on the Dolphins site, "Turner likes to hit people." Really? Wow! If you are going to be a starting OL in the NFL, you better like to hit people! I hope that Turner and James become starters and exceptional players Day 1. But, the pre-season hype ... Let's just get to work and become a badass OL.
He moves well for his size. Pro Day: Dates: 03/11/14 Height: 6040 Weight: 327 40 Yrd Dash: 5.11 20 Yrd Dash: 2.93 10 Yrd Dash: 1.79 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 32 Vertical Jump: 29 Broad Jump: 08'09" 20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.76 3-Cone Drill: 7.51
I don't think they're going to want guys you would consider "space-eaters". You can run this(and most) defenses just fine without one. They're gonna want someone who can run stunts, cross the face of a center, pursue down the line on outside runs. They're not going to replace Paul Soliai with a guy like him.
The question that was asked to garner that response and headline wasn't really the brightest to begin with..
