Very disturbing report out of Australia. Their rugby league known as The NRL, is going through a very ugly scandal.

Do you believe a culture like this exists in our American sports ? I found this extremely distastful and really disturbing. Are young football and baseball players being allowed to act this way as well ?
We have a number of ex-jocks (football, baseball, wrestlers and basketball etc) players that post on the site. Do any of you guys know of this kind of behavior withing your sporting career ? What did you see or participate in and if you did do you now regret some of the things you participated in ?

i dunno about the young part, the hole 16-17 years old, that might be different over there, but i know for a fact this type of thing happens over here with our athletes as well.

absolutley it happens.....i know for a fact i was on a college campus with a friend of mine who i played with in highschool and was visiting him at his campus (its a big school) i wont name the school.....but after the game.....3 girls came into a room with about 15 of us (football players from the team) and they were passed around like a joint at woodstock.....many guys i know who play college ball and have promising futures know of plenty of times they or teamates had condoms get holes poked in them by the women to try to get pregnant with the chance of being attached to a future nfl or mlb or nba player......its crazy

Sick how was your sloppy 10ths?
I'm not surprised 1 bit. How many times have you heard a Professional athlete get caught up having a relationship with a girl aged 18 and under? Hearing this wasnt a shock at all.PMZQ likes this. -

i understand both sides of the arguement. with your story it seems 100% like the girls were ready for it. some cases though ive witnessed it didnt seem like the girls were 100% with the train, not that they said no or dont or tried to stop, but they did seem unsure. im not sure what that truly means to be honest, do they want to do it, but just scared, or do they not and is scared to say no?
to me if 5 guys suddenly walked in the room and some girl was like "**** no thats not happening" that would be it, but it seems like those girls that didnt want it to happen, but instead let it, were afraid because she might not get her chance with the first guy...
i smoked weed for the first time because i was pressured, isnt that just peer pressure and not a crime though? -
But the deeper subject on this is, the culture of sports in America, is it set up for athletes to take advantage of women, and is that something that should be changed ? Is it acceptable for this behavior to continue ? -

I know of far worse incidents than the one being reported but never made it into the papers, however most of them started at least as consensual sex between one girl and several players.
Group sex is a problem, and it is a function of several things.
1) Girls throwing themselves at players.
2) Players living in a self contained world where they only deal with other football people, the majority of whom are their team mates.
3) Players having too much money and too much spare time.
4) Good football players by definition are team oriented people who also are risk takers who like to expand the envelope.
5) The football clubs doing almost anything to ensure that good players are taken care of to maximise their chance of winning on any given Sunday.
Similar incidents have been reported in European football (soccer), cricket and pretty well every professional sport I know of.
