Yup, Symantec and Ad_Aware are both good programs, I believe that Ad_Aware is free as well. Make sure that you run full computer scans though, some people like to run the quick scan so they can get on with their business.

 

AVG is a free ware that is also affective. download Spybot search and destroy from download.com. make sure you update the free ware software. run Adaware and Spybot in safe mode. you may have to do this a couple of times. reboot to windows and run AVG. that should get most if not all the issues for you.
