Some news that's sure to piss people off: They haven't even started developing the 360 version. See, what pisses me off about this, it that they're gonna have the PS3 version finished and just sitting there while they port the 360 version. Unless they have a specific plan (like a dedicated dev team to port it quickly), this is a dumb move imo. http://kotaku.com/5032613/dont-think-about-final-fantasy-xiii-xbox-360-right-now
It pisses me off. I have both consoles even, so wtf do I care. I just want the game out. Period. It is done, give it to us. As americans we are basically being punished because we don't have the pct base of ps3 that the japanese do.
Not a big deal. I thought thats what they were going to do. ITs no different than a Xbox 360 exclusive in 6=7 months going to the PS3 or PC.
A little since the PS3 version will be held back those 6 or 7 months and won't be in the market. So a game is being delayed, whereas you are talking about a game being released on a system and then having a timed delay for the other system to get the game.
Question: Couldn't they port it over to the xbox 360, WHILE they are working on the localization for the American version on the ps3?
The good news is... It might leak when it's being ported The localization process of Blue Dragon put in my hands a full month before it's release.
Not without the dev kits, they can't. Apparently they haven't gotten them yet, so there's pretty much nothing they can do at the moment. It's not as if Microsoft hands these out like candy.
Sounds like bull****... How'd they make FFXI? That crappy space flight game? Both are Square-Enix 360 titles (although they might have been out sourced).
Different development teams. I believe Square-Enix has developers in three or four different cities. It's not a case of every company employee being in one gigantic office building.
Thank you for that. However right now they are not even done with the PS3 version so having the dev kits at this moment isn't the biggest priority for the people at Square-Enix. I read somewhere that the localization process was going to take at least 6 months so we here in the states will be getting it 6 months later than the Japanese anyways. Since the Japanese version is ps3 only, it doesn't need to be xbox360 ready at that time. So when they are working on the localization of FFXIII, they can work on the port while they work on the localization. Also knowing a little about how Microsoft works and the HUGE buzz they got from the announcement of FFXIII to xbox360, I am sure the Pez Despensers filled with Dev kits are on their way.
I'm out of the loop at the moment (I used to work in the video game industry until about a year ago), so I can't really tell if it's bull or not. My educated guess would be that Microsoft has some kind of exclusive deal in place with another developer (Bioware? Mistwalker?).
It is not like they are drowning in Dev Kits. Even here at M$ it takes about a week to get a dev kit when you need it, unless you are lucky.
