Been in the same league for the last 13 years, and it is getting a little stale. in order to change things up a little this year, we are trying a few new things. First, wanted to do an auction draft, but too many of the owners were p*ssies and wouldn't do, it. So we did a 3rr draft instead. We will see how that works out in the long run. The more interesting move was we now play 2 qbs and dropped the kicker. So the starting line up is now 2qbs, 2rbs, 2wr, flex & defense. Also limited the # of qbs(3) rb(5) and wr(6) you can have on the roster. Made the draft more interesting because obviously qbs become a much more valuable, and rare, commodity. The limit on the rosters also required a little more care in who you would draft. Will see how it works over the season. Anyone else changing things up in their leagues?
Try for a smaller bench. 1 QB 2 RB 3 WR 3 Flex (RB/WR/TE) 1 Kicker 1 D 3 Individual Defensive players (DL, LB, DB) with only 3 bench. Makes a bit more challenging.
try playing with your eyes closed. believe it or not, you can still score a bunch of touchdowns while gaining bragging rights for doing it without even looking.
IDP. We have a 10 year old league, pretty much the same members, 12 teams, and it hasn't gotten old. We tweak scoring from time to time, but adding a defense adds a whole new dimension to the game. We have QB RB RB WR WR TE RB/WR K D D DL DL LB LB DB DB You can't win if you neglect the D. We give points for tackles, assisted tackles, tips, sacks, etc. etc. You can go the flashy pass rusher route with boom or bust, or you can go the steady tackle-machine route. I've always felt that having Team D was ignoring half of the game of football.
Since they wouldn't do an auction draft, try selling auction FA. Def makes it a lot more strategic and competitive imo. You'll also find out who has quevos and who's happy with weekly charity very quickly.
I agree. I had a team with a smaller bench last season and it was definately better for scouring the waiver wire for a good mid-late season pickup.
We do have an auction on free agents. Not real money, each team has a $150 bank for the year. Bro-in-law league has a real $ waiver wire. Needless to say, the winner of that league gets some serious cash
