Got hooked on the Next Gen, but also really enjoy Star Wars as well. I've read more Star Trek books then Star Wars, but SW has some get books as well.
Star Trek for me by far. I like them both but I very much prefer Star Trek. Edit: Well crap I guess my reply put's me in the no life club...
Hands down Star Wars, my life could have gone one without ever seeing a Star Trek movie. There is no comparison. Star Wars had a purpose, a goal and reason. Star Trek just flew around humping blue women.
Star Wars not because of the movies oh no the new movies are GOD awful has some nice scenes but overall pretty crappy. The older ones are good but IMO Knights of the Old Republic is amazing and SHOULD be made into a movie. But I enjoyed the new Star Trek movie more than I enjoyed the new star wars movies.
Star Trek by a mile. Star Wars is great, but man...I could do without some of the complete CHEESEBALL characters. I mean c'moin...ewoks? Star Trek always felt more real, like alot of it could actually happen, while Star Wars always felt like a Saturday morning cartoon show.

Star Trek, and I'm not punching myself in the face. Star Wars is too, too........"anime" if you will. And the new Trek movie is far and away better than any and all Sta Wars movies individually or combined. There I said it.
Demonstrably WRONG. you couldn't get 5% of the people on this planet to agree that the latest Star Trek was better than The Empire Strikes back. and I loved the latest STar Trek..but I am not crazy.
They both stand well, Star Wars was an incredible leap in movie making, and had a gret story. That said I like Star Trek better. It gets kind of cheesy sometimes but it deals with a lot of philosophy and social questions. The original was way ahead of its time as well.

you know, i liked star wars forever. played with the toys as a kid, but wasnt an enormous fan as an adult. but i felt the nostalgia when the new ones came out. then, i got into star trek as an adult, especially TNG. I really cant decide. for varying reasons, its about a tie for me.
To me Star Trek is a far more original thing. All Star Wars did was copy other sci-fi concepts from books like Dune and shows like well...Star Trek. I like Star Wars, but it is a HIGHLY overrated series/movie/movies.

The original Star Wars trilogy was ten times more entertaining than any of the original Star Trek movies to me, except for Wrath of Khan, that was pretty bad ***. The first Star Trek movie came out, I was only six and didn't know what the hell V'GER was. That one put me to sleep at the time. Saw it later and it was a little better. IMO, no way does a Star Trek television series hold up to any one of the original Star Wars movies, I don't care how long they dragged them out over the years.
