And for the love of God and your families don't do anything stupid like drink and drive. Cabs cost like $5-$20 but tickets/bail or worse yet funerals and hospital stays cost a lot more!

yep, and Lord help you if you actually hurt or kill someone b/c you were not mature enough to handle yourself and thought you could drive.
Cab ride is 30 bucks max, for most people, take advantage of it!
Salut to the vets, enjoy your family and friends, no Joizy Shore ish!Boik14 likes this. -

I sincerely hope all of you enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend back home, but let us not forget those who in the service of their nation gave their lives.
SGT Ashly Moyer; KIA 3 March 2007, Baghdad, Iraq http://www.iraqwarheroes.org/moyer.htm
SGT Ashly Moyer, or "Little Mo" as I called her as she was barely 5 foot tall on her tippy toes...I was her Drill Sergeant at Fort Leonard Wood. An adorable human being who had a heart of gold and I dare say reminded me of my own daughter who was deployed to Baghdad. I'll never forget you Ashly and I will get to Arlington to pay my respects. Rest in Peace.
MSG Wilberto Sabalu; KIA 6 May 2007, Pol-e-Charki, Afghanistan http://www.iraqwarheroes.org/sabalu.htm
MSG Wilberto Sabalu...Wil and I first met years ago while stationed togther at the USDB Fort Leavenworth, KS. He and I worked the Special Housing Unit and he just had a magnetic personality. I can't remember how many times I'd die laughing at his stories. Wil and I grew close over the years and I considered him my little brother. No matter where our travels took us, we always kept in touch. He was killed 30 days after I came home from Afghanistan where we worked together...and 30 days prior to his redeploying home. His wife Amy has since moved on and has remarried. His child Josh and Nadia are growing up beautifully. Wil, te extrano mucho mi hermano. gracias por todo. hasta luego y vaya con dios.
SSG (Retired) Michael Discioscia; KIA Mazar-e-Sharif,Afghanistan http://sanctuaryofmary.blogspot.com/2010/12/michael-discioscia-and-charles-robert.html
(Note: Date of Mikey's death in the article is incorrect. Mikey and Chuck were killed on 15 July 2010)
SSG (Ret) Michael Discioscia...Mikey and I first met at the Besmaya Combat Training Center in Iraq when we worked with MPRI. My "Puerto Rican Pitbull", he played a mean game of Spades and we whipped up on many when we reunited at Kabul Military Training Center. That thick Peurto Rican accent of his and positive can do attitude "es too "e"-"c" papi" always made working with him enjoyable. I feel a bit of guilt with Mikey's death. A Senior Trainer position came open at Mazar and I recommended Mikey for it as he deserved to have his own team. I often wonder, had I not recommended that position for him, would "papi" still be with us today. I do believe in fate, but still it's a weight I carry. Andale pues papi, take care. hasta luego hermano.GreysonWinfield, CashInFist, RevRick and 10 others like this. -

I'm sorry for your loss DJ. Even though you said you weren't close to him, he was your mom's husband so I know this is hard on the family.
You didn't say whether or not you would be attending his funeral at Arlington, but if you are...if any of you here go to Arlington this Memorial Day weekend, it would warm my heart beyond description if someone could/would find SGT Moyer's gravesite for me, maybe take a picture, tell her that her Drill Sergeant hasn't forgotten her.

Part of our Litany for Memorial Day celebrated yesterday.
We praise you, O God, our Heavenly Father,
as we remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for
the freedoms we enjoy every day. We think of how they have
followed in the footsteps of your son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Please hold our servicemen and women in your strong arms.
Cover them with your sheltering grace and the presence of
your Holy Spirit as they stand in the gap for our protection.
We also pray the families of our troops. We ask for your unique
blessings to fill their homes, and we pray your peace, provision,
and strength will fill their lives.
May the members of our armed forces be supplied with courage to
face each day and may they trust in your mighty power to
accomplish each task. Let our military brothers and sisters feel
our love and support, in the name of Jesus. Amen.The_Dark_Knight and gafinfan like this.
