i would post the yahoo link, but there is nothing there really other than the news.
its the last year of his contract. the series will go on apparently
theres no way it will be the same without him. last season really struggled to find its footing anyways

The show will not survive without him. I wont watch it without him.
-
i dont think it will either. ill will watch as long as i can tolerate it. makes me wonder if they will actually try to replace him or change the whole thing all together. he is the only character that can carry half the show all on his own.
jims little quips and dwight's idiocy only work in small dosesBig E likes this. -
Exactly. The show is basically written around the crazy antics he does. Maybe they should just call it a series. Its had a good run.

I still wanna bone jenna fischer so I'll continue to watch...but I won't like it!...as much :hump:

The Office should probably just end after next season (the show probably should end next season anyway since the show isn't nearly as good as it was in the earlier seasons and after all a show going 7 years is hard to stay fresh and good). Let Michael and Holly end up together and Michael going off to head the corporate offices for Jo. They can wrap up the other characters storylines by having Jim take over Michael's spot and live happily ever after with Pam and their baby. Have Dwight and Angela get back together with her telling him she's pregnant at the end. Have Andy and Erin start to date again. Is it cheesy, obvious and cliche? Yeah of course but I'd rather everyone have a happy ending than the show going on without Michael and we're forced to watch someone else come in and try to be Michael. I mean Steve Carrell is The Office, you wouldn't replace Ed O'Neil or Jerry Seinfeld in their shows. Just let the show end on a somewhat high note.

I've heard that's a really funny show, just haven't gotten around to catching an episode yet.

I think he is leaving at the right time. How many office related situations and jokes can you drum up.It becomes stale IMO.
-
I agree, they should just end the series with Michael leaving. The past season was already losing steam and becoming kind of redundant. I can only see the show going further downhill without Carell,he was like the tape holding up a box that is falling apart. I just can't see anyone carrying the main character credit like Steve the rest seem only good as supporting characters. And I just hope they don't make the owner of Sabre(Kathy Bates) the main character.

Wonder how they'll kill Michael off...

If Ricky Gervais takes over that show will be just as good, if not better.

I think a great ending to the series could be Michael leaving and announcing the new manager and it turning out to be Ricky Gervais' character walking through the door in a quick cameo smiling and then the camera goes to black thus ending the series. I think that would be a cool way to go out and a nice nod to the original series.AbideN703 likes this. -
ricky gervais as michael scott's life coach. michael will believe anything because of the accent

Harvey Keitel to replace Steve Carell on 'The Office'?

not really sure about danny mcbride. i really just dont like the guy. not sure why. he seems pretty popular but i dont get why. i have never seen the flight of the conchords, so i dont have an opinion on him -

Never could get into the office because I found Steve's character to be wincing bad. It was actually uncomfortable to watch.

Isn't there only going to be 1 more season of The Office? I guess it doesn't really matter who replaces Steve. -
I didn't like this past season though. Sure Jenna Fischer is hot in real life but on the show I find her too annoying now to care. It all went downhill for me once her and Jim got married/were parents. I always enjoyed the will they/won't they aspect of getting together though of course it couldn't stay that way forever.
I don't like the Kathy Bates character or the other dillweed who was brought on (who I heard is going to be a show regular this season).maynard likes this. -

The Jim/Pam characters do stink now that they're finally together. A big aspect (and good storylines) of the early stuff in the show was getting Jim and Pam together. Once they got together they lost their charm, I mean neither character was really funny the past season and were pretty annoying at times as well. Their characters could have (and maybe should have) been written off after they got married/had the baby. Jim could have taken a better job somewhere to be able to support the family while Pam stayed home to be with the baby etc.
The show should have put more focus on Andy/Erin (especially since Ed Helms is starting to catch on as an actor) but I really think turning Erin into a psycho was a strange storyline, especially the weird stuff with her brother. Even Dwight had crappy storylines this year. Only Kevin and Andy really stood out as MVPs of the last season as being consistently funny and they can't focus on Kevin too much or he'd get boring quickly.

I also didn't like having Andy be interested in Angela. I hate Angela with a passion (which I guess is the point). She has no redeeming qualities whatsoever so to make someone interested in her enough to talk about marriage? **** that IMO -
I actually like Angela because she's such a witch. She's different than any of the other cast members. And thought the Andy/Angela/Dwight storyline was pretty funny. It showed that Andy had a heart and wasn't just an annoying co-worker (which he was up until that point) and it gave us a lot of fun Dwight/Andy scenes which are always a plus.
The only character on the show I don't like is Phyllis. Phyllis' character is simply annoying now that she started to act less like a concerned mother/grandmother/friend and more like someone that has one too many opinions and thinks way too highly of themselves. In short she just acts like she's better than everyone else. And her only interesting recent storyline of Bob Vance possibly cheating on her was dropped very quickly with no other explaination. I was expecting to see Dwight use his spy skills trying to see if he could dig up any dirt on Bob.
I'm also not a big Stanley fan but I can deal with him more than Phyllis even if I don't find him funny at all. -
oh and i cant stand kathy bates
i have hated the "new pam" for a while -
-
Yeah I'm not a huge fan of Kathy Bates either (wish David Wallace, Stringer Bell and/or Jan were still around). Hopefully she's just in one or two episodes this year getting Michael back together with Holly.
I'm really not a Jim or Pam fan anymore, they weren't fun last season.maynard likes this. -
