It sure does make you wonder, but hey, I guess it worked out well for Weis... he got his big fat contract in ND to stink it up there... It's too bad this scandal is dying in the media, I love to see more people other than steve young bring this up about Weis, and all the others on the NE staff that were involved in this. As far as im concerned all involved deserve to have their reputations ruined. Hopefully it all comes back on these cheaters in the end.
He seemed like enough of a genius when he took a crappy team and had them in back-to-back BCS bowl games, and won coach of the year. I didnt hear people saying how bad Weis was then. Does 1 season erase what he did the 2 years prior to that, or have we already forgotten that far back? It's too early to say how things will end up for Weis at ND, but to say he's sucked is untrue.
I don't know he's looked awful for a couple of years, you honestly have to be worried about this guy, frankly he's seemed lost with the guys he's recruited.
I hate the team, I hate the school, but I think theyve pulled in one of the top recruiting classes this year if im not mistaken.
3 years ago he won 9 games, 2 years ago he won 10 games, last year he won 3 games. Where are the couple of years where he's looked awful? And his recruiting classes have been amongst the best.
Sorry but the guy has never impressed me at the college level seems like a mediocre coach. The team is always going to have a tough schedule. Where is there quarterback? Wasn't he supposed to be the brilliant Qb guru? The team was carried by Brady Quinn, after that its been a disaster. Hey if he proves me wrong he proves me wrong but how many great college coaches have years like last year? The were literally last or next to it in some categories.
Well Brady Quinn wasnt much before Weis came along. After those 2 years he had a true freshman. Like I said, it's too early to definitely say anything about Weis at the college level.
My own thoughts are that Steve Young needs to be quiet. When he was a 49er, they had their own cheating scandal - they circumvented the salary cap, paying Young, Brent Jones and some others under the table. Young speaking out is the proverbial pot calling the kettle black. That said, I think it's a valid point concerning Weis and he's someone Goodell should have questioned in depth. Oh and does anyone else wonder if their was a tape of the Rams - Pats game that was played during the regular season? You know; the one played 11/18 when the Rams won 24-17?
Here's a pretty good article about Weis. It isnt a pro-Weis piece by any means, and aims at taking an "objective" look at whether he's a guru or overrated. It has an interesting explanation as to why his team struggled so much last year too, and if it's right he could have trouble at the college level if he doesnt figure out how to fix it or change his offense. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/22569-Charlie-Weis-Offensive-Genius-or-Overrated-Playcaller
they sure didn't have that same trust in Ty, all the hype, all the money and new contract, exactly one more win than Ty....
If Ty could recruit he might have gotten more time to see his players develop I guess. I think ND also panicked a bit and wanted to make sure Weis wasnt going to jump to the NFL.
