I thought it was a pretty bad showing.
You want these network shows to be exciting, as it's the first exposure to MMA for a lot of people.
The first fight was terrible. Moussasi couldn't do anything with a guy who couldn't do anything except take him down. That guy couldn't even get into guard. I can't remember a 'worse' champion in my life now that Mo has a belt.
The second fight was tactical, but lacked action. I know who Aoki is for sure, and Melendez had the right gameplan. But it meant the road to victory was not overly entertaining.
I thought Dan Henderson looked old in the third fight. Before the bell I thought he looked a bit soft. They said he had to drop a lot of weight along with back problems. Either way, Hendo was gassed after the first round and couldn't stop the takedown. After almost KO'ing Shields, he basically spent four rounds mounted.
Just goes to show you that Dana White is always right!
EDIT: The brawl at the end smelled funny. Struck me as staged, though the blows looked real. -
Personally, I am not a fan of shields. He landed 216 shots and dominated the fight, however he never came close to finishing it. -
Here's a video of the incident.

Makes Strikeforce look bush league, IMO. -
In all seriousness, there is no doubt that Shields was the dominate fighter, I am just not a fan of his style.Skeet84 likes this.
