It's on both the coaches and the players to practice well.

 

I'm pretty sure JT is just playing it safe when he says "it's not the coaches". He knows Sparano bears a lot of responsibility for this mess. He's just being professional and not pointing the finger at him. He can't or shouldn't yell at the coach but he can yell a the players so that's what he did.

To add: Those who still can't spell Sparano after 4 years can just call him Coach Dummy. Much easier to spell. And the name fits.

It makes BPs leaving more annoying. Either he conceded that he hired the wrong man or left without tony being totally ready

Bill Parcells never wanted Tony to be ready. He wanted him to be a puppet. And a puppet without a hand up his *** is pretty worthless.

 

It needed to be said to each other. I don't know that it needed to be said to the press to where now an already disillusioned fan base has one more thing to criticize this coaching staff about. It's not going to help ticket sales, it's not going to help team stability. I don't know what good AT ALL comes of going to the press about it.

 

my guess is that he was far more interested in the personnel side and when he saw his mistakes (pat white?) and that jeff was doing well, his general interest died. i dont think he wanted to put the energy to tony and also was keenly aware of the puppet perception. even players comments were about parcells presence and not tony's

he should have never come or should have hired a coach that was ready on day one. i dont want to sound too sympathetic towards Tony. he could have turned the job down just as well. but all in all, it was a bad structure.

 

thats why i was saying before that these players better not say a damn thing about an empty stadium. they are in effect saying the games are being lost before they even take the field

this really calls into question 2 things imo that go beyond just the coaching:

1) our reliability of evaluating what we are seeing on the field. these guys are talking like they are a month behind the rest of the league

2) the credibility of the players. maybe the fact that this seems pretty widespread can diminish this, but this talk can be excuse making and scapegoating for poor play. at some point, there has to be some personal responsibility. these guys are pros. our coaches might not be doing the right things, but conditioning has to fall on the players to some extent. these guys guys could have been doing more on their own to get ready. its at least conceivable that the coaches see that the players are so woefully out of proper shape that lighter practices might be needed at this point

 

If Parcells wasn't ready to come in and either be the general manager or coach this team himself rather than hiring a couple of place holders while he acted as the eminence grise, he should have done us all (including himself--he took quite a reputation hit) a favor and either have retired or gone to Atlanta.

 

Talking to the press about how unprepared they are...as if you couldn't tell by the performances these last couple of years.

 

"Stunning confessions?" Sounds more to me like the kind of stuff that went on back when I played in High School but, the only media involved was the kid who put out the "news letter." :)

Players complained about mico-managing, NFL substantially cut how tuff practices can be which players liked, and now, according to some, there is not enough attention to detail and practice should be tougher.

This should have been a players only meeting, like every other team, in every other sport has, and no big deal. However JT and Bush do love publicity, and media and fans love to blow things out of proportion.

 

Are you at these practices? Seeing what is going on?

Thought not. I'm not fond of JT but I'll take his word over a fan's speculation all day everyday.

 

CK, JT played with the Jets last year he had very recent exposure to a different environment and probably couldn't hold back.
What amazes me is how bad things really are when after 2 games the **** is already hitting the fan.

 

2-0 didn't work out very well last year. Maybe these guys need to have their backs up against the wall to take their heads out of their collective ***.

 

Hmmm, you guys have a short memory. If I recall, Sparano has typically run very difficult, fast-paced practices. Practices that focus on fundamentals and every miute is micro-managed. That is what Ricky Williams criticized Sparano for.

This season, Sparano changed his approach. Why? I'm not exactly sure, but he made several comments during camp about sort of easing up - probably had to do with the lockout. Maybe in the long run this will actually be better for the team. The players have seen how they get spanked with the way they have been practicing. Maybe the demand for perfection and hard work will come from within and be more effective that way at the end of this thing.

Don't try to speak the truth to this fanbase they are so good at manufacturing their own theories from behind their keyboards.

 

IMO it could help a fan base that is looking at the team and wondering if the players see what we are seeing. Now the fan base knows at least some of the players see this and are glad they're speaking out.

Who in their right mind would turn down a job like this? No one. It's one of only 32 jobs like it in the world, and you get to have your family set up for life after 1 year. Not to mention the ego boost it gives you. No one would say no.

 

Cant understand if Sparano is so focused on the minor details then WHY is he continuously wasting time-outs? Clock management is a must for any successful HC, or any HC that plans on becoming successful. Maybe he should spend more time fixing that problem also.

 

I was very bitter towards JT coming back here but I can't help but like him for this.. our players might be sticking to their old not give a **** attitude if JT weren't there to yell at them.

I guess that's what happens when you have a young team with a coach that doesn't have balls though.. you need veterans mixed in with them.

 

Same thing with Will Allen. These types of veterans are what you need on an improving team. Part of what made the Pats so good in 03-04 were their veterans.

 

Karlos Dansby said something interesting to the press today. He said "I'm practicing right. I'm getting it. I'm good to go."

Seems innocent enough but what catches my attention is the "getting it" comment. Jason Taylor's initial comment after the Texans game was something along the lines of "If you're not getting it, get out of the way."

And then Jason Taylor went on to criticize how the team practices.

There seems like something a little defensive in Dansby's saying "I'm practicing right. I'm getting it."

 

When Channing left the leadership roles on the defense basically fell to Karlos Dansby and Yeremiah Bell. I wonder if this whole thing Jason Taylor did this week was because he wasn't very happy with that leadership by Dansby, and so he's trying to fill that leadership void a little.

 

They'd be doing themselves a favor if they gave Channing a call. Perhaps what the team needs are three true LBs to coordinate calls and stop the run. Not sure what Misi is providing right now. At least their emotional leader would be back. (That or Marvin Mitchell playing with the other two LBs).

 

That's an idea. Some 4-3 fronts, with Dansby at Sam and Kevin Burnett at Will, Channing at Mike. But, could Cam Wake really flip over and play RDE? Because I don't know if it's going to work having him play LDE while Jason Taylor plays RDE.

 

Could always try Saban's old defense.

 

Ok, stunning is a bit over the board and this has been out there for a week or so. I wouldn't expect the players to do the same thing in one of Shula's or Lombardi's practices, simply because that was another era of football, not this current one. Sparano is not Shues or Lombardi...not yet at any rate and there is sufficient evidence to conclude, at least this time around, he won't be. I say 'this time around' because of guys like BB who struggled early as a HC but developed into something better...

It's the same thing with making plays. The coaches put the players in position to make plays, but the players have to make those plays on the field to make it happen. Practices are the same way. The coaches set up the structure and the players put the effort or don't put the effort in. I don't believe that the coaches are all to blame for this. It's the players who dictate how practice goes, not the coaches. They can guide along and push, but ultimately, it's the player that makes the difference. RW was a disgruntled quitter on this team so taking his word on anything is ludicrous. As much as I know we all want a scapegoat by the name of Tony Sparano, it's the players that make the difference. However, you are right about one thing, Tony will pay the bottom line sacrifice if improvement isn't seen.

Ross has already set the Fins up for another regime. He's already been shopping publicly and he's likely shopping privately now (or at least I hope he's learned his lesson about how to deal with an NFL franchise by now. It would be a miracle for Sparano to keep his job at this point...nothing short of at least a 2nd round playoff berth would help him now. Besides, with candy out there like Cowher, Fisher and Gruden, I would think that Ross is just licking his chops...

 

Ah you're suggesting something different. You're suggesting we go into a new age Jim Bates defense, but instead of it being our nickel or dime formation we just let Odrick, Starks, Taylor/Merling, and Wake go after the quarterback. I like it, it's very simple, and you keep yourself in a basic formation. It's a thought.

 

Impossible to bring Crowder back now, even if it makes sense from a "help" perspective.

The guy was on the radio yesterday saying about Chad Henne "I just don't like the guy". That's a direct quote.

 

Exactly. I'm not sure how talking to the press about this stuff suddenly exacerbates fan feelings. We watched the games; we saw the sloppiness; we're 0-2. It's not like JT keeping his mouth shut would've kept fans clueless about our poor play. We saw the secondary falling apart, poor Oline protection, big plays allowed, and costly errors. I'd be more worried if I didn't hear a peep from the team as if everything was ok.

If anything, players speaking up publicly should do more reassuring than making things worse. At least fans now know that this poor play isn't something players want to accept and that we have vocal guys on the team openly trying to right it. I'm glad I'm hearing about JT & Bush holding players accountable for their actions.

 

That's not the end of the world, but there are other choices available that's for sure. Anyone kinda miss the old Miami 4-3? It was simple, but effective. I think we have quite a few players for it.

The part I find disappointing is that someone in that room made it public.

 

Coach's dont miss plays or assignments. If Tony worked these guys hard and Marshall or somebody blew out a knee or got injured everybody would be crying about him pushing them to hard. It is what it is people, these PLAYERS are not ready to play and get their job done. I'm not saying coaching is great, use of timeouts and personel IMO isn't great, but its not the coach's that are blowing our games right now. Its PLAYERS that did not prepare well enough.

 

well I dont care who is to blame but somebody needs to be held accountable. what some people are overlooking is that some of this is more then chemestry problems its a talent issue and some of our guys need to step up . I am leaning on blaming Ireland and many fans haveforgotten about how Ireland was with Ross when they left Sparano hanging durring the fiasco and there were some talk about some serious tension between Ireland and Sparano. Moreover our draft picks are not making that big of a difference with some exceptions of course.

 

Wish it was the other way around....Parcells went to Atl and we got Mike Smith and Matt Ryan. That being said, I was it seems, in the minority that Cam Cameron deserved at least one more season. At least when we were losing in 2007 it was losing in exciting fashion, like missing a last second FG or coming up just short in the final mins.

The past 2 seasons, we have been just down right boring to watch....................
