Im not a fan of UFC, but my roommate must have already played the demo for over two hours. from what i can tell, that games going to deliver big time.
Keep dreaming. I think FF13 is going to be the first multiplatform that sells more on PS3. I'd say people with both consoles are going to shy away from the Xbox version knowing it's a port. I know I'm getting it on Playstation. It would just feel wrong to play it on any other console.
PS3 Street Fighter IV almost matched Xbox and you don't think Final Fantasy can overtake an Xbox port? I'm not convinced. I think most Final Fantasy fans have a PS3 b/c they thought it would be an exclusive for so long. Why you wouldn't you buy a game for the console that is clearly the lead platform?
because more 360 gamers buy games. Even with 360 pirating running rampant and the PS3 is virtually impossible to pirate, the 360 still outsells.
I know they buy more games but I just think this one instance will be different. Final Fantasy has been been a playstation title for a long time now. It takes a while for that to change in peoples' minds. And to me this is a game that PS3 owners have been waiting for, making me think they'll actually come out in full force for this one. As someone who owns both, Microsoft will really have to pull something out of their *** to make me buy the port for their console. Playstation just seems like a no brainer with this title.
Same can be said about Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, or any other once Sony exclusive (not sure about Street Fighter's prior exclusivity actually). All of which had better numbers on the 360. Imagine if the haxxors couldn't rip 360 games off so easily. Not to mention the burning people got from Fallout3's DLC situation. I dunno man. I still think the 360 version outsells the PS3 version. If they do some kind on special blu-ray version of the game for PS3, all bets are off. I'm talking about an even 1 for 1 same day release in the US.
It's hard to say it will be one for one. I don't know, how many games has Square Enix made for the 360 up to this point? Will they be able to port it well? That's one of the things I'm wondering.
They've got plenty of 360 experience now. Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery, and Star Ocean 4 are all Square-Enix 360 RPGs. Granted, Star Ocean 4 was the only one in the group worth a damn. They also made that really bad space shooter too...
As for Unreal Tourney, it was a timed exclusive for the PS3 (somewhere between 6 months to a year before the 360 saw it).
First of all, the Grand Theft Auto Franchise has only been extremely popular for about eight years now. Final Fantasy has been a Playstation exclusive since the days of PSone. When was FFVII released? Around 12 years ago? Secondly, Xbox had a DLC advantage with GTA4. Even with that huge disadvantage PS3 still had strong GTA4 sales. In this case you can say the difference is that nobody with both consoles bought it for PS3. [Probably not a significant amount of people anyway] So without that advantage and with a franchise that has been exclusive to Playstation significantly longer there is no reason to think that this game will not be the first to buck the trend. Once again, if you were going to BUY a game, why wouldn't you buy it for the lead platform? Of course there will be sales from people who don't have both consoles but I can't think of any reason why anyone with both who is going to buy the game will not get it for playstation. You can count me as a dual console owner who is going to do that. Given the option I don't want to buy a ported game. Unless Microsoft can offer something extra that sentiment will not change. So the telling factor here will be how many from each console base gets this game and which way dual owners go. I think the PS base will come out stronger for this title. It's all just my opinion. It will be interesting to see what happens if this game ever releases. Last of all, I can't think of many trends that last forever. Street Fighter almost broke it. I think FF will finally do it.
I think history has proven that gamers don't give a crap about which console their games come in. The FF series was on the NES and SNES from FF1-FF6. It's arival on the PS1 was received without a hitch. In fact, nobody gave a crap. I think the D-pad issue on the 360 has everything to do with SF4's closeness. I think the overwhelming amount of 360's vs PS3's (in the US) will again lead the 360 to stronger sales. Not only that, I don't think it's be as close as SF4 was either. FF is a MUCH bigger name than SF4.
Unless it is cheaper on 360 I am getting it on PS3 for a few reasons: 1. XIII Versus will be on PS3, and there may be some sort of bonus if you have a XIII save on your console. 2. I travel with my ps3, I don't typically bring my 360 because my fiance uses it more than the ps3. 3. The sound on the ps3 (capability-wise) is better than that of the 360. PS: I got RE:5 on 360.
I know I mentioned it before as a summer game I was looking to, and that I was surprised that it was only on PS3 because well there haven't been a lot of awesome looking exclusives (in my perception at least). It sounds absolutely awesome and I am so glad such a great game is available for the PS3 (as I want both consoles to be successful). I can't wait to get it.
