I like reading a couple of books at a time over the course of the Summer, mostly older books simply because I refuse to pay 27 dollars for a book I may or may not like, and as a wise fellow once said "If you want to learn something new, read an old book"
So for me:
1. Heavy Econ Stuff from Dr. Gary North, he mixes economics in view of the Bible and he has some great insights, currently it is the Sinai Covenant.
2. Finish "A secret history of the IRA", not sure I'll finish that Gerry Adams love fest.
3. Malevil, sort of 28 days meets a Chateau in France.
4. How to win friends and influence people, need I say more?:lol:
So what is on my fellow forumite's reading lists this summer?

1. The Power of now (predecessor to "A New Earth"...found it to be a very helpful book, and a great excuse to hit up my favorite coffee shop).
2. Cradle to Cradle (A book about how to design sustainable products..think about the creation as well as the afterlife)
3. Under the tuscan Sun (it's transportive and takes me back to Italy...read it when I want to walk down memory lane)
4. Che (want to find out more about this man)
that's enough to keep me busy for awhile. I'm a very fast reader but make myself read slowly and digest stuff. -

Tucker Max's "I hope they serve beer in hell." I highly recommend it for the laugh factor.
Slash's autobiography. It get goods when he starts in about how Guns' came together (duh).
I hope to finally finish Elizabeth Kostova's "The Historian." I started it a few years back, put it down, and never came back to it.
I also urge people to pick up Glen Duncan's, "I, Lucifer." It's about the devil wanting to come back to earth to write his autobigraphy, so he kills a writer and overtakes his body. Interesting concept. Not for the faint of heart...opfinistic likes this. -
Books on Ghengis Khan and JP Morgan. Some William Blake and Rumi. Autobiography of Paul Di Anno "The Beast". And one sci fi or espionage fiction book for fun

In HS, I just happened to pick the Screwtape Letters at random from the HS library, the assignment was to give a presentation based on whatever book that was read...:lol:
Needless to say, there were no questions from my fellow classmates...

I'm going to read the Dexter novels before the premiere of the new season in the fall.
Also José Martí's poetry; and I'm going to try to get through another Flaubert, maybe Madame Bovary...probably just end up re-reading Sentimental Education again, though. :shifty:

im really not sure what ill be reading. i may turn to something historical. i had my phase with the russian novelists. i may go for something lighter. some of the ones posted here sound good

i am currently reading schrodingers kittens, inhuman bondage. I might start 3 theories of quantum gravity, qed, or something else. I haven't decided. Or I might order and start he books I've been asking around about.....

My co-worker let me borrow The Smart Money by: Michael Konik. It's about how these guys beat the Vegas sports bookies. Excellent read.
