It is sold out, but the Dolphins are using the 85% threshold instead of 100%. Its some new thing the NFL did last year where teams can get blackouts lifted at 85% of tickets sold. So that means you can still get tickets from the team. But a few games this year should get close to 100% (Patriots, Bengals, maybe Ravens).
Still, Ross had to buy tickets last year for the team to even get to 85% and avoid the blackout, so its nice it happened without that this year. -
Should be 100% or I have lost faith in my fellow fans that have the luck of living so close....

Can't be sold out. I am going to the game but received 2 emails from the Dolphins and have see multiple billboards in Miami advertising the game.
I'm guessing there are a bunch of tickets that are unsold otherwise they wouldn't have invested in all this advertising. -
Success builds success, if we win then this will happen more regularly

Why even ask. I'm sure they feel awesome that when they win 2 on the road they can't get people to want to support them in their home opener.
lol.
The hllmark of a half-interested fanbase is that it takes extraordinary circumstances to get their interest. Superbowl wins, etc. They are there for the best of times, not there for the worst of times, and only half there for the so-so time.
How does our attendance compare to other franchises, though? Other than the Bills and Packers, who sells out? -

I wish I could go but:
I live 480 miles away;
I work on Sunday, both morning and evening,
I suffer from pecuniary strangulation.
Other than that, I would be there!!! -
I want to go but can't afford it. Sorry guys. I my see if I can snag a cheap ticket on stub hub day of though.

Live games not as good of an experience as watching from home, IMO. I still have my season tickets, which get donated though

I've spent anywhere from $25.00 to $350.00 on single game tickets and sat in relatively every 'area' of the stadium. the view is 100% fine and easy to see from anywhere... I will be at the home opener in club level seats but even the nose bleed seats have a pretty good view. I've never had a problem seeing numbers from any area in the stadium. The view and cost has never been a problem in my eyes. If I have the money then I get good seats, if I don't then I can pay bottom dollar for family section seats, either way its worth it to be there 100% of the time. To each their own! :knucks:
Man I CANNOT WAIT for this game. That stadium is goin to be BUMPIN!!!!! -
The way attendance normally is ,90% would be awesome.

It will be half empty at kickoff even thought the announcers say it's sold out. It may fill up during the first quarter but be empty again after halftime. Someone said the concession lines are so long and slow is why it's empty. I've also heard that it's so hot that a lot of people watch from the concourse instead of the stadium. Either way it looks empty a lot.

It'll be sold out and full IMO.
Don't pay attention to the blimp view at kickoff. This is South Florida. We arrive when we arrive.TiP54 and Rocky Raccoon like this. -

This year I decided I could no longer take not being at all the home games. So I purchased four season tickets, which I had previously being doing prior to 2011. My wife and I will also be attending the away game the Dolphins play in two weeks against the Saints. I have traveled to over 25 stadiums around the league to watch Dolphin games in the past few decades, as well as to London to watch them play the New York Giants in 2007.
I appreciate the fact you still purchase and give away season tickets. While I don't agree that you get a better experience watching the game on TV, at least you are willing to support the team with your money by continuing to buy season tickets. That is far more than what many of the so called Dolphin fans, who live in South Florida and who have the financial resources, do on game day.
If the Dolphins decide to take a better offer in the future and leave Miami because of low attendance at the stadium. All those fans who never purchased tickets but instead waited for Ross to buy the excess tickets, so the game could be shown on TV, will have no one to blame but themselves.djphinfan likes this. -

I have only been to one game a few years ago when in North Carolina when they beat Carolina with Ricky Williams and Chad Henne. I'd love to go to a game in Miami. -
I really don't think Ross is treating the season ticket holders properly when he buys up the excess tickets, just so the game can be on TV. It is the season ticket holders who purchase most of the tickets and that is really why the games are shown on TV in the first place. So in South Florida, we have a cheap fan base that just wants to sit back on the couch in their air conditioned house while others make it easy for them by spending their money, so these fake fans can see the game at home.
I realize that many people can't afford to attend these games. I also realize that there are many individuals who have the financial resources to attend these games, but they are too lazy or too cheap to do so. As a season ticket holder, I am offended that Ross has so little regard for the season ticket holders that he continues to give away his product on TV, while at the same time relying on the season ticket holders to pay the majority of the money to fill the seats at the stadium. I have written to Ross and expressed my displeasure with his continued practice of buying unsold tickets. Hopefully in the future he will let the games be blacked out which aren't sold out in time. Perhaps when people can't get the games for free on TV, they will actually show up and support their team. -
No need in asking questions about it being sold out if your not going to be there. :tongue2:
