Well supposedly Loria (Marlins owner) paid for it himself. It was designed and built by noted artist Red Grooms, and it was commissioned for $ 2.5 million.

I agree, total waste of money....the stadium is PERFECT except for that monstrosity.

As a citizen of Miami, Florida, I can assure you that the vast majority of the citizens in this county would vote, "NO" on any tax money to upgrade the stadium. People in Miami-Dade county are already upset with the tax dollars used to build the new Marlins stadium. They really have no interest in seeing millions of more tax dollars spent to upgrade the privately owned Dolphin stadium.

If the NFL wants to come to South Florida and enjoy the beautiful weather and great beaches and hotels in February, for SB 50, that would be fantastic. If they only want to come here by forcing the citizens of Miami-Dade county to spend millions of dollars of tax payer money to satisfy a group of individuals who don't attend games in South Florida, except for a SB, no thank you.

I have gone to games at the stadium for years and I find no problems with it at all. If I can sit in the stadium for Dolphin and Hurricane games each year, I have no idea why the NFL wants to force the citizens of Miami to make upgrades to a stadium which serves the fans of the Dolphins and Hurricanes just fine during the season.

Personally, my feeling is that if the only way the NFL will agree to come to Miami for another SB is if the taxpayers agree to these million dollars in upgrades, they can just play the game somewhere else from now on.

Same thing has happened in San Diego.....the last SB was there like in the late 1990's. The NFL doesn't think Quaalcom Stadium is NFL worthy.

I also would be against my tax money spent on a privately owned building. I think Ross is going to have to put the money up himself, and unless he does, he can forget hosting another SB.

The beautiful weather is part of the problem. Too much chance of rain with no roof for their liking, I think.
