I like your list, except I'd have:

    Jon Hamm as Batman,
    [IMG]

    Charlie Hunnam as Aquaman:

You can't have Larry Fishburne as MM, cause he's already Perry White in that universe. So I'd go
    Dennis Haysbert
    [IMG]

And my crazy casting choice that would be a huge gamble, but could pay off:
    Kate Beckinsale as Wonder Woman:

I was thinking of him as the Flash. But it would have to be Wally West, not Barry Allen.

It's too bad people can't look past a horrible script/movie to see there was at least "some" good in it. I think we're the only ones that appreciate Clooney's performance. Not saying it was the best thing ever but he certainly was the least of the problems with that movie.

Honestly Clooney is a top flight actor. If they were doing a serious take on an older Batman he could knock it out of the park. He was going for campy the last time around

FTr, I'm not even saying his performance was great or not. I'm just saying to watch that atrocity and come a way with Clooney as being the problem is insane.

Clooney can act...see any other movie he was in. He can be a complete bad ***, see Dusk till Dawn, The Peacemaker, Michael Clayton, The Perfect Storm. He can pull of suave ladies man see all the Ocean movies, Intolerable Cruelty. Given the proper script and direction, Clooney could knock Batman out of the park.

if you look at those Batman movies and come away with Val Kilmer as the better choice between he and Clooney, then your opinion is no longer valid....on virtually anything.

See I think each of the original 4 Batman actors were good in their own way but not the "total package". I think Michael Keaton was a very good "crazy and loner" Bruce Wayne, I thought Clooney did a good job as the "player" and what the public sees Bruce and I think Val Kilmer was actually a good Batman. I think if you put all 3 actors together it would have made for a very good Bruce/Batman. Obviously I feel like Christian Bale simply knocked the role out of the park and was fantastic in all of those roles and showed more acting ability and range.

Not to mention it would probably have to include a contract for JL spinoff too. And he may not want to comit to that many more Batman movies.

It's a rumor started by someone who wrote a e-Book about Christian Bale playing Batman again. I'm sure WB tried and is still trying to get Bale back but without Nolan, who he's extremely close with, I can't see Bale playing Batman again.

Couldn't disagree more. Nobody cares about seeing Batman and Superman palling around. The Dark Knight Returns did a phenomenal job of creating a feasible scenario in which Batman could have beaten Superman. We've seen enough origin stories. I, for one, am glad they are going to jump right into a beef with these 2.

I'd be ok with this movie:

First Act: Lex excavates the "World Engine" finding raw material, Batman observes Superman workings with Lex's hired thug John Corben.
Second Act: Batman defeats Superman in a brutal badass way, Lex turns Corben into Metallo using this unknown material as his powersource.
Final Act: Batman helps Superman Defeat Metallo as his powersource is his one weakness, Batman leaves Metropolis with a new ally in Superman.
After Credits Scene: Shows Batman putting a Kryptonite dagger in his safe in the totally badass Batcave, showing that he may have a new ally but he will never trust him.

I wouldn't say he's the end all be all Batman at all, all I took from his Batman was that he likes to retire and has a goofy voice. If your gonna go best portrayals of Batman Kevin Conroy nailed it implicitly.

I never really understand why people say the best portrayal is Kevin Conroy. He didn't actually act, he was simply the voice. Granted he did a great job with the role but you can't really compare what he does to what Adam West, Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney and/or Bale did.

Forget even what he looks like, the fact that he doesn't have to go through any action scenes or actually "act" should take him out of the discussion. Again not taking anything away from him because he is an excellent voice actor but they are simply two different things.

First of all, voice acting is acting.

Secondly, you're applying a condition that isn't there. The condition being that the best batman portrayal has to be live action. It doesn't.

Kevin Conroy's interpretation of Batman is the absolute gold standard. Its why it can bridge different animation styles and even different mediums. If it wasn't for the popularity of Conroy's/Timm's Batman, Nolan doesn't make his movies. Tim Burton's Batman reawakened national interest in Batman and was the catalyst for the animated series. That series not only sustained that interest through the waning quality of the Burton/Schumacher movies, but grew the brand. It did so by removing ALL the ridiculousness from the Adam West versions and that the Burton movies didn't completely get rid of and the Schumacher movies tried to reinstate.

Kevin Conroy IS Batman. His performance is more iconic, more recognizable than any other's. Any good actor these days could play Batman in a Nolan film. There was nothing all that impressive about Bale's performance. The strength of the Nolan movies had little to do with Bale and more to do with Nolan. I'm sorry, but if you're going to knock Conroy because it was only using his voice, then please explain how much more we're really getting from a live actor in the Bat suit. I promise you, there's nothing challenging acting wise in a suit like that, other than comfort. You're too limited. All you need is a high quality costume and virtually anyone can play Batman live. The Joker on the other hand is all acting and absolutely is a feat to pull off well. Its why you just can't bring in any big name to play the Joker, but you can for Batman.

If Kevin Conroy looked like a leading man, this discussion never happens.

How is this relevant to the casting for the movie? It's not going to be animated and Kevin Conroy will not be considered for the part

I didn't make that post in a vacuum.

Ray, has a long history of saying Conroy's Batman can't be considered in the same class as live action versions. I'm making the case it can be considered the best ever. No one, but no one is suggesting Conroy play the live action Batman.

    Apples to kumquats IMO.

Conroy is frigging fantastic. But he's not a live action actor. Doesn't detract from what he does, just is what it is.

Voice acting is not the same as live-action acting.

Tom Hardy is an amazing example of that. In DKR if you heard nothing but that voice it would of been annoying. But his body language, his facial expressions, the dark souless deepness of his eyes, his movements of cracking his neck, his build etc made that role and that character. You are basically saying if I could make the bane voice....I could do it for a cartoon and be just as iconic as Tom Hardys real life potrayl of Bane. Thats not the case. Live action acting takes more than saying a line, even if its perfectly articulated.....if your body is limp, lame, you're making a weird face, you don't look the part etc...then it falls on deaf ears.

You're diving head first into the minutia and thinking its indicative of something.

I'm not saying you have to do NOTHING to play Batman in the batsuit or Bane in the....banesuit? I'm saying what you do isn't that hard from an acting perspective. The reason it isn't hard is that those costumes remove subtlety from the acting. You may think the difference walking with confidence and walking "limp" is subtle but it is not and its very easy to do. Anyone can do it, try it yourself the next time you walk to the bathroom. What many people cannot do, is portray that spectrum with just their voice without needing to go to comical extremes (aka Bale's Batman voice).
