At this point, it all can't happen fast enough for me. I really thought Cam would get our offense going, but the man has no fire and the only reason he hasn't lost this team is that we actually have professional players who believe in doing their job. There's a new dawn rising in South Florida.

Also, the only way to replace Mueller this clos to the draft is with another personnel guy that has also been preparing for the draft.

To me I would get rid of Mueller just for the terrible job he did in letting all of our best ST teams players leave and not replacing them.

 

Donnie Jones, David Bowens, Welker, and Travis Minor [our best special teamer], sure has been missed IMO.

I agree. But here there be problems: Parcells can't possibly fire Mueller without being dead certain that he'll land Ireland (at least not if he doesn't want to risk having no draft data come April) and I don't know if that matter is going to be resolved next week - or in the next weeks for that matter. If he tries to hire Ireland, the Cowboys will certainly go berserk, fighting with teeth and claws to have the league prevent Parcells from doing so - after all, if they lose Ireland, it's them losing their draft data all of a sudden. Given the league's position (I can't imagine that Goodell really wants to piss off Jones), there could be a compromise in which we either surrender a draft choice or hire Ireland AFTER the draft. I just don't see it happening sooner.

Well, that's a tough one. I bemoaned our week ST play all year, but then again, you have to start rebuilding somewhere and if you're about to do it seriously, it starts with veterans like Morris or Bowens who are FA and have to be overpayed (see Morris). I don't think Mueller anticipated quite as many problems and he has to take a certain responsibility for that but then again, Saban should have made dead certain that such an exodus couldn't happen. You should never come into a postion where all your ST aces are FA at once and you either have to let them go or overpay them.

 

Yeah, and I'm certain that most of you who are wanting Cam fired this instant will be talking up one of Bill's cronies just like you talked up Cam last year. And then next year, when the Dolphins win maybe 3 games, you will be doing the same thing to Bill's crony that you are doing to Cam Cameron now.

I'm just going to sit back and wait to hear about how Todd Haley is a great young head coach and how he's going to change the culture in Miami.

 

Good luck ever finding a post from me that was talking up Cam Cameron last year.

I had grave doubts from the beginning based upon his previous stint as a HC in college.

 

Special Teams is not some magical unit that requires two years of grooming to find players for, guys on special teams are normally young and motivated type players who know if they don't cover kicks well, or block well, they will be out of the NFL.

The Special Teams coach only has to find the right people among that motivated group to play on ST's, yet Keith Armstrong has yet to field an even "average" unit all season long, we have 17 rookies on the roster, a handful of practice squad types, and yet we still cannot cover a darn kick off?

The only onside kick I recall was perfectly executed by Feely, but the kick was designed to go to Will Allen's side of the field? Will "hands of stone" Allen?

The last two ST pro bowlers have come from the Chargers, these guys were pretty much no name folks, undrafted types, and yet here we have two pro bowlers?

Fire Armstrong, hire a Frank Ganz jr or a Steve Brisbey or Westphal and watch the ST units improve overnight...

 

SAME! I didn't like the signing at all, but I was like what ever about it. I wanted Wisenhunt or Tomlin.

 

I "think" I liked the Cam hire as we have 3 DC HC in the AFC East, and I thought an offensive guy would be a dramatic enough difference to win some ball games this year....ooppss

And Cam isn't "gone" yet, there is a chance he will be back KB, don't know how large a chance that is, and it would require a housecleaning of his staff, but he may be back.

 

I tried to have hope for Cam, but the best I could come up with is that he could fix the offense (which he was before massive injuries). I had 3 or 4 guys on my list before Cam.

This year I only have 1 cause I'm not following it as close but there's no chance we get him (Jason)

 

There are very few of us on this message board that can honestly say Cam wasn't their choice last year. Cam Cameron was the guy 95% of the fans on the board wanted, and now, we are going to see a bunch of those fans suddenly say they were skeptical to begin with.

Everyone that knows my posts from the old board knows that I wanted Chan Gailey to get the job.

You can check my earlier post in this thread, I admit that I wanted Cam, and I am also man enough to admit when I'm wrong, and I was wrong. With that said, I am but just a fan with an opinion and I accept that. I believe in Parcells and what he has done previously, so I will accept what he does with the team and who he brings in.

 

I would be disappointed if Cam and Randy are still here a week after the season ends. Good riddance.

 

The question is...is it really important to be the one who wanted Cam last year...and now wants him gone? The fact is....we are ALL...ALL dissapointed with the way things have gone this year. Are there aspects of Cam that would have been good for Miami? Yes. Is it possible that Cam could have ended up being a good coach? You bet. But Bill Parcels was hired to come in and turn this ship in the right direction. He has a certain standard that he expects from his coaches, players, and staff. If we continue to lose...would it have been Cam Cameron's fault? Would it have been Randy Mueller's fault if our draft was less than stellar this year? No...it would have all been Bill Parcels fault. Its his name on this thing. With a four year contract to establish a foundation of success...he doesnt have the luxury of time to hit or miss with his coach, and GM. If he finds out that they arent fashinged from the same football clay that he was...they arent going to be around, I dont care how talented they are.

Cam Cameron may be a good coach someday...but he isnt a good coach for the Miami Dolphins RIGHT NOW. He isnt a foundation builder. Did he get the most out of some of his players. Yes. Allen, Brown, and more have had their best years, and that can be directly attributed to Cam Cameron. But the MIAMI DOLPHINS TEAM has just had their worst year, and that to can be attributed to Cam Cameron and Randy Mueller as well. Although, personally, I think Randy has done a pretty good job. There must be something that BP doesnt want, and Im willing to accept that.

In the end...our sails will be cut out of the cloth that Bill Parcels chooses. Thats what he was hired to do. Anything less would be a waste of Wayne Huizenga's money.

Hmm. Bill Parcells must not be a good head coach then. He failed as a head coach at Air Force, and he was 3-12 in his first year as a head coach in the NFL.

Using Cam's failure at Indiana as a sign that he isn't a good coach is like trying to use a coach's failure at Temple against him. There are certain programs that you only win at once in a blue moon. Indiana is one of them.

Wasn't huge on Cam, but really Miami's problem has never been the head coach. Even when Wanny was here it wasn't a head coaching problem.

It has always been poor drafting, trades (pulled and not pulled) and player acquirement.

I for one had only minor concerns about his job in indiana partly because of his great job while at the chargers. I guess being a great oc doesn't make you a good hc. I'm not mad a cam like some, I'm just disappointed about the record. Some are letting their anger cloud their judgment. I have passion about the dolphins too but, haven't we had enough of rash judgments. It is easy to be impacient with the dolphins considering most wouldn't like the same standard applied to our own lives. I am not a football expert. I don't know if the system set up by cam and randy will lead ot success, bill will let us know soon enough. One thing for sure, If bill won't let the fans or media influence the chocie of the first pick. What makes any of you think he will let the media or fans influence his decision on the future of cam/randy.

 

Honestly I don't remember it that way. It seemed to be a 50/50 split and after a few weeks people just accepted that he was going to coach and had to support him, but I don't recall there ever being half the hype that came with JJ or Saban.
