I think it's safe to say that Ryan Tannehill would be the first Qb taken in the draft this year..which s pretty cool.

Impressive accuracy, trajectory, release, footwork..just thought it would be fun to look back.

He would, but even in hindsight I'd probably draft Ryan Leaf again at his current age before any of these QB's. I don't see a single starter let alone a franchise QB.

Geno Smith could be another RGIII/Colin Koepernick is he lands in the right situation. Probably more Koepernick, because he had to sit for a year.

It's probably safe to say that Buffalo will not be the "right situation" for Geno.

Maybe, but I don't see it. I think he's a horrible bust waiting to happen and most years with an average QB draft class probably a late 2nd rounder at best.

Just my opinion of course. I just don't think he has many viable NFL skills, and he looked scary idiotic in his QB meeting thing with...not Gruden...I forget who it was exactly on ESPN but Geno couldn't even remember the terminology of one WCO offense play that I memorized extremely easily in the same time span he had....and this is his career not mine.

If I got drafted by the Bills, I'd refuse to sign the contract.

I could see Matt Barkley working out in Buffalo. I mean, work out as much as a QB for the Buffalo Bills could work out.

Except Geno Smith is much different as a passer and he's not exactly a dual threat. He can run fairly fast but he's not a duel threat QB. This is like people calling a white WR "Wes Welker" even though he's 6'2 and 4.4 40

West Virginia's offense doesn't have any WCO concepts at all. It's not an easy offense to learn unless you have some familiarity with at least the concepts. RGIII and Koepernick both worked out because their NFL coaches have a lot of familiarity with their offenses but also read and option offenses, so it was relatively easy for them to reach a mutual understanding about what they were expected to do in the NFL.

What the hell are you talking about? Dana Holgersen's offense is pure zone-read, to be a successful QB in that offense you have to be a dual threat.

My point was that they asked him to remember the formation and name of one play, and the four routes included. He didn't even get correctly through the first three words, forget the route progression and actually left out the primary route. He also failed to remember the guard was supposed to pull.

I'm not sure if you saw it or not or if anyone else did....but it was way beyond just "Well its a difficult system and terminology".

None of the terminology of the play was tough by the way...I don't remember what it was (this was like...2 months ago) but it was something easy like "Banana split right strong, boot left waggle (route tree numbers) "

I like Matt, so hope he doesn't go to Buffalo or any AFC East team for that matter. I think Arizona would be the best place for him with Bruce Arians as head coach. He'd have been the 3rd QB drafted last season had he been in that draft...IMO. Can't see how anyone could now consider him as not a 1st rounder, based on just his slight slump as a senior, which wasn't all because of things in his control.

In my case, I didn't want him last year had he come out. I just see him as a middle of the road starter in the NFL at is very best and a backup at worst. If he does go in the first (he probably will and should in this class) I'd feel most comfortable taking him late.

Not to say I'm right....Ive never met him. Maybe he has the stuff to be a stud. I just don't personally see it. Though I could see him doing pretty well in Arizona as you said.

I disagree.
IMO EJ Manuel has the best chance of going from underrated to Kaepernick type status & potential.

Maybe so, but Geno didn't run very much last season or in 2011. He was nowhere near the runner that CKap or RG3 were in college. Not even close.

I see him as a taller version of Drew Brees, and if you like the type of QB that Brees has become, that is what Matt could potentially become too.

EJ was a much more productive college runner than Geno was, but even he falls far short of being the run threat that RG3 or CKap were. EJ does have a better chance of being an NFL zone read QB though, I do agree with you on that.

I don't think you comprehend just how simple WV's offense is. It's six simple play concepts that can be run in six or seven different formations. The passing routes basically amount to a 9 route with a bunch of options and screens. When I say it's pure zone-read, I mean exactly that. That's why WV was demolished by Kansas State last season.

Right, and that should scare people a little bit I think. I mean if he can't get down one very basic NFL play how is he going to do absorbing a whole playbook? I think he will need to sit for more than one season...and even then I'm not sold on his arm.

I like Barkley. Probably more than most do. But isn't Arians' system pretty vertically oriented? I'm not so sure that's Matt Barkley's strong suit. Honestly, I see him as a better version of Andy Dalton. Not that the Bengals are even sniffing the QB market, but if they didn't have Andy Dalton, I think Barkley would be dynamite in that offense.
