Old article, but it'll be interesting to see if it holds true.

Hell Deej, any semblance of a running game will help THill out tremendously.
Granted the "modern' NFL basically uses the pass to set up the run, but out rb's were getting blown up in the backfield constantlydjphinfan likes this. -

Interesting that Shelley Smith was also on the list.

Hello 4 new OLine starter's and Knowshon Moreno. -

This is exactly why I'm beating this drum so hard on Sherman, I always add how he can go to both sides lethally so that must be taken into account when formulating the gameplan, meaning, I can understand if you have a Qb that can only go to his throwing side once or twice a game, but when you have a Qb who lethal at both sides than do the math Sherman..the 23rd, Unlucky 13, mbsinmisc and 2 others like this. -
While I like Moreno as a RB and Albert at LT, the rest of the new offensive linemen added in the draft and in free agency are still huge question marks, IMO.
I remember going into last season, most people on here were only concerned about the RG position. They felt that Martin would be able to fill in for Long, Incognito would continue to play well at the LG position and Clabo would be a solid RT. Well, we all know how the OT ended up playing last year.
Hopefully the OL will be better this coming season, but until they line up and prove it in the regular season. The OL is still a major area of concern for this team. -

The forgotten element though is the improved OLine coaches of John Benton and Jack Bicknell Jr. Turner never developed nor fielded an improved line. If they play up even an NFL average line, they have a future with us, to where the past few lines had no future nor upside. We also have Billy Turner and Same Brenner developing. I expect us to field the best Oline we've had since the 2008 season.the 23rd and Unlucky 13 like this. -

I just worry if the rookie offensive linemen can come in and be effective in their rookie season. I'm also not high on Dallas Thomas, and Smith may or may not be the answer at RG. The backups are all mediocre to below average. Hopefully the OL will jell and they will turn out to be a much better unit than I anticipate.
Last years OL was awful, but for the Dolphins to have a winning season and make it to the playoffs this year, the OL needs to step up and improve drastically over last year. Perhaps this will happen and I do think the OL coach this year and far better than Turner. I would like nothing better than to come on here during the season and heap praise on the play of the offensive line. At this point though, I'm just not ready to jump on the new and improved offensive line's bandwagon. -
I think jw does raise a good point about Miami's backups on the OL. You're probably going to have one or the other between Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner as a backup - 0 games of NFL experience. I'd imagine Jason Fox is a backup, and while solid, he's been injury prone. Sam Brenner and Nate Garner have played and have started at times, but I think you could stand to upgrade on both of those guys as well; Garner especially.

I know Albert is a huge upgrade, I'm comfortable saying Dallas will be an upgrade, I also was one who was very very against signing Clabo, he did nothing but prove me right all. Season, he was garbage, so I feel comfortable that the more talented player, James, will at least be an upgrade in talent..that's the thing, there will be mistakes but I'm positive the talent has been upgraded across the board..to just say well we don't know what we have because 4/5ths are new, doesn't do anything from an analysis POV. -

Marquess Wilson is also listed. I remember CK talking this guy up last year. How talented he was and how badly he was railroaded by Mike Leach. I was hoping he might be a late round pickup considering the Dolphins ignored WR in the early part of the draft. If he emerges, the bears have a shot at being insane on offense... Marshall, Jeffries, and Wilson could be a dominating trio. All three are 6'4" ish. Crazy. Even Jay Cutler should be able to be successful in that offense.
As for Tannehill, he should be on the list. I think he's the type of QB that's good for 25-30 TD's and 4,000 yards annually. Good enough to make Miami a consistent contender. The biggest question with Tannehill is, can he be consistent throughout the entire year without multiple chunk turnover games? -
As much as I enjoy Bline's game, do think THill looks for him a bit too often..iirc Ck posted some egnew stuff up and he was completely open and THill did not bother to look for him he was to locked elsewhere -
I think Sam Brenner is versatile enough to play any of the tree interior spots, plus you'll probably have Billy Turner capable of handling either guard spot as well. I worry about having to play Fox or Garner at tackle, especially at left tackle. I think getting a better swing tackle should be a priority during roster cut downs.cuchulainn and Fin D like this. -
I'm very excited to see what RTH can do this year. If he does emerge this year, it will be a fun year to be a dolphin fan and we will see our team in the playoffs.
You have to like what we've seen and heard about the development of our offensive line. You couple that with better utilization of wallace, hopefully better chemistry and you should see more TD's. -

Opening Day 2002, Ricky Williams first game with Miami, we scored 49, all on offense.
Side note, 3 of the last 7 times we've scored 30+ have been against Oakland.cuchulainn and Fin D like this. -
