Man I think I might've messed up a tad on PlaytheDraft. Didnt realize until 7:59 tonight that the trading floor would reopen again for day 2. I friggin' played it as if my portfolio was frozen permanently tonight, so I included my day 2 guys rather than focusing solely on first rounders today and Day 2 guys tomorrow. sonofablitch
Whelp. Probably couldn't work out a trade down scenario, at least it's out of the way so we can load up on weapons on day 2
I feel ya. I had Easley and then at the last minute went against my better judgement and took NFL.COM's poster boy Stanley Jean-Baptiste. Still made 2.35M today, but I'm 26th and really wanted to crack the top 10 so that cost me 6 spots. You winning your league?
I would have cracked over 3M if I kept Smith. Kicking my self for that one. Instincts were initially right. Glad I jumped on the Easley bandwagon. As soon I saw Mayock build some hype I knew outside Donald there had to be someone to fill that void. Lost some money on Donald which sucked, Moses, Latimer, Bitonio, Lawrence. Have to do some work for Day 2.
Anyone think we take a shot at Ealy? I think we could find an interior guy in the third or fourth. A receiver is also a possibility. Lest we forget Travelle Wharton is still in play. Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk
I don't know. If we go BPA, which is the complete opposite of taking James at 19, Ealy or Hageman would provide great value. We have 4/5 line spots filled and unless a coveted receiver or linebacker is there, I don't think you can justify skipping those guys. Bitonio does interest me as a guard but I would prefer Wharton as a veteran presence on the right. Don't want two rookies there against Buffalo and that could give us a shot at either lineman or a tight end. Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk
Based on the James pick, we are not going to be a "BPA" team regardless of position. We are not going interior DL tomorrow. We are looking at needs - OL, OLB (reason for Shazier), etc. I think there are several options tonight: TE, WR, LB, S, or more OL (depending on who drops. If Bitonio is there at 50 I think we'd nab him but the odds of that are about as good as Lewan making it to 19, imo).
I don't completely agree. RT was the biggest glaring need for this team. They have other needs, but none are utterly glaring as RT. Now that they got RT, they have more flexibility to marriage BPA with need.
Gettleman "We don't draft for need, we draft for value. If you draft for need, you're gonna get burned." "The only receiver whose route running you can't question is Beckham." "I can't be tunnel vision, we can't deal with check boxes, I need this position check, I need that position check." http://www.panthers.com/media-vault...-6-5-240/78e23a4b-199d-4f70-8326-3773ec2c4a42
Looks like the Play the Draft standings are pretty much final. You win, Todd. You finished #22 and I finished #38. Jerk.
Ended with $18,166,070 at #4 I'll have to join when it first opens up again and join an an actual league.
luckily though, thanks. I took a major sh-t today meanwhile you apparently dished out the sh-t. I don't know if it's done yet though. Their rules are a little confusing: "the highest fund value for each competition at the conclusion of the third round of the draft wins." "After the 3rd round of the NFL Draft, undrafted athlete stocks are valued at $425,000." I still have Martavis Bryant, Tom Savage, Marcus Roberson, and DaQuan Jones undrafted. If they're assigned a value since the draft has passed them by, I'm gonna take a considerable hit. And if EVERY player left on the board drops to 425k, it could get interesting. I'd take about an 850k hit. Same time next year? This sh*t's addictive. We need to have everyone start at the same time though.... and definitely get in early on. We would've been top 10 if we had an extra month.
LOL I wont end up with that. I'm kinda scared how big of a hit I'm going to take of players not taken. I had 9 players taken below their value and 8 players taken above their value but I have 14 that didn't get drafted at all. All for Day 2, 31 total.
Yeah I fell 4 spots, lost over 1.2M. I'll have to rethink next years Day 2 strategy. Lots of 'late' round guys went ahead of what many thought some round 2-3 guys like Desir, Moncrief, Breeland, Tiny, Ellington. I'll have to stick to a smaller list.
No kiddin' brobeans. I had ten minutes to throw together my Day 2 selections thanks to the damn ball & chain making me run to the store for her..... 10 miles away.... for her sudden urge for goddam ice cream...... so I didn't even look at the rules while rushing my picks and in the process talked myself out of the obvious ones like Bitonio, Demarcus Lawrence, ASJ, Van Noy, Jordan Matthews, all guys that I prioritized for Day 1 sleepers and who at worst had values that represented their floors so we at least wouldn't be losing money on them. Then like 60% of my selections were 3rd round sleepers. total idiot.
Oliver signed with Indy so that's a good situation for him with Trent Richardson, Vick Ballard, and Ahmad Bradshaw. 1k season here he comes.
He had a great block on a blitzing linebacker to open up a nice completion down the middle. Looked like he was shot out of a cannon to cut him down and open up the passing lane before the LB could even cross the LOS. Nice to see Seastrunk bounce back from a rough summer.
CK, remember the attitude concerns when discussing Mike Evans towards the beginning of this entire thread? http://m.tmz.com/#Article/2014/08/22/mike-evans-nightclub-brawl-miami-fight-video-bouncers Back in March so he can't be punished according to PFT, but that's not really getting off on a good foot. Nightclubs in Miami seem to be pretty ****ty places, especially when it comes to young football players. Why can't these dummies just learn to leave when things get dicey?
Yeah that happened during spring break so really it's a non issue. I hear the issue is the bouncers wouldn't let him go back in to get his girlfriend. Sh-t like that happens, I'm not too concerned. Sometimes it was Evans on-field attitude that scared a little but I think just interviewing him and looking into his background and stuff probably would have resolved those fears, from what I hear. I've heard very, very positive things about him from the Bucs organization including some insiders. I think he's just going to end up a damn fine draft pick and it wouldn't surprise me (as I said many times) if he winds up the best WR in the class.
So many people have been following Rakeem Cato of Marshall. I wonder if any of you "draft gurus" have thought Darryl Roberts a DB for the Herd has flashed at all. I think he's another quiet UDFA maybe 6th/7th rounder if he tests well.
