This comes as no surprise .After placing emphasis on our OL it looks like our plan is to play smashmouth football What about our lack of a true No 1 WR ? So what is this regimes goal ? The blog goes on to evaluate our Eastern Division opponents . I said this on another thread. Our opponents have taken measures to win the division this year while we are building for the future through the draft . http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/thed...r-dolphins-will-emphasize-running-game-in-09/ Do you agree or disagree ? An argument can be made that this may be the objective for this year but what about the future when Henne takes over .Are we going to be playing the same kind of offense ? Wont we need a No 1 WR then or will Ginn be that WR ?
Makes sense for numerous reasons First off, it is Parcells/Sparano football. Run the ball, control the tempo of the game, keep the opposing offense off the field, win the TOP battle and be able to run out the clock at the end in closer games. Building a line with the ability to run block will help in the passing game, if they can hold those blocks. As for the passing game, we all know Penny doesn't stretch the field deep. While I do believe he can connect on those 40 yards, it isn't something he does with regularity, but I feel we will and must attempt those, just to keep the defense honest. It also hurts that we don't yet have a proven #1 WR. I am still not ready to say that Ginn won't every be that guy, but as of this moment, he isn't. He showed improvement last year, lets hope he is doing his homework this off season to better learn how to get off blocks, run crisp routes and get open. Penny is accurate, he can hit him, that isn't the problem. Of course there is then the Henne factor. He will probably be our #2 again this year. If we establish a run offense, it gives us the time to develop that #1 WR. When Henne takes the reins, being able to run will keep the pressure off of him as he plays in those first games as a starter. And as he gets more comfortable being our field general, the game slows down for him, we should have a #1 WR and that unit in place by that time. Couple that with an already establish power run game, with the ability to strike deep...this offense is going to be a force to be reckoned with and more importantly YOUNG!! We just have to remain patient as the process continues to unfold and develop.
Wow Tasker, how long did it take you to come up with the sense Miami will be a run first team, you definately reinvented the wheel with that one
