The weather was great for TC today. A lot of the drills were opposite field, but I brought the binoculars today. What a difference they made. General News Sean Smith was in pads and participating in all team activities. Doesn't look like his knee was bothering him. Ferguson was on the exercise bike. Donald Thomas was doing sleds and footwork drills. Shawn Murphy was playing with the 1st team. Jake Long looked like he was taking more of a leadership role, going around to other offensive lineman pumping them up for practice. 11 on 11 CP - handoff right to RB - 5yds CP - playaction to Greg Camarillo - 15yds CP - pitch out to RB - 2yds - stopped by Joey Porter CP - handoff to Ricky Williams to the right - 5yds CP - handoff to RB left - 7yds - Long opened up the hole by blocking Moses CH - playaction to Camarillo - 30yd - coverage by Sean Smith CH - handoff to Cobbs - no gain - stuffed by Cameron Wake CH - toss to Lex Hilliard left side - 15yd gain CH - complete to David Martin - 25yds CH - it looked like Erik Walden beating Jake Long for the sack PW - Cobbs up the middle for 26yds looked like he went untouched PW - Anthony Kimble stuffed right side - no gain Special Teams Bess, Chris Williams, Armstrong, and Ginn were returning punts. During Special Teams I noticed Joey Porter and Jason Taylor working with Paul Pasqualoni and a blocking pad on what looked to be hand placement during rushing the QB That was the jist of practice guys, hope this helps.
Forgot to mention, play of the day: Chris Williams beats Vontae on a 35yd throw from Chad Pennington. Chris took it to the house. 50 yd play in total.
This Chris Williams guy seems to be making at least a play or two everyday. Has he been tried at returner yet?
If I may ask, how did Williams get those last fifteen yards? Was it because of a missed tackle from Vontae Davis or did he simply out run him?
Didn't realize Armstrong was on returns too. Just made a post in another thread that he needs to be doing that to improve his chances to make the team . I'm real interested to see what Chris Williams has to offer in the games. He is still a long shot to make the roster as of right now but who knows.
Chris just had separation on Vontae and it looks like Vontae just kinda gave up on the play after he was beat.
He was a great kick returner at NMSU, if he bust two or three kicks for TD's in the preseason, and always looks explosive, he may be tough to keep off of the roster BTW Nolephin, does Cam Wake look like he is pushing 260? How did he look over all?
Honestly Padre, Cam does not look like he is pushing 260. Overrall, he looks like he's getting better with each practice. At the end of the 2 minute drill today he ended Henne's drive with 2 back to back would be sacks. It seems to me that once he starts getting the hang of things he has the potential to be a good player.
Nice, and the bloggers did not mention his improvement. To me he looked 250...max...maybe more like 245..
Great stuff Nolephin, much appreciated. I'm glad you pointed out some of the improvement on Wake. I had a feeling he'll start progressing with each practice. But our wonderful beat writers never seem to mention anything unless it's bad.
