this happened here in Winnipeg and is getting all the coverage it can get with the Olympics going on.....It made Fox News....New York and Sydney newspapers The big debate is if the teachers in the video should be fired....they are currently suspended This happened during a Spirit week activity where all the teachers had a dance off in the gym in front of approx. 100 students [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOplTIvAJaA"]YouTube- Two Teachers One Chair.[/ame]
Meh seems stupid to me me. Obviously they were just screwing around ... the tweens in this video shouting "OMG OMG" were enough to jab my eyes out though. It looks like the dude is rocking a Kurt Warner jersey ... making this video all the more ironic. I think there are much more important things to get upset about than two teachers having fun ... at least they're doing it with each other and not seducing their students ... or posing on Facebook ... or any other number of illegal activities.
probably would have been alright right tothe point where he pretends he is going down on her, all though in all honesty that might not be what he was doing.
not appropriate for school, although probably not as bad as some cheerleader or drill team routines I've seen.
She is the gym teacher who just started in September, she just graduated University so she is about 22-24....The male is in a term position and just started this month....so if they have a relationship it would of just started
So much worse is on TV. If the kids are shouting OMG they know what a lap dance is. Like someone said at least it's with teachers and not students. They were having fun and clearly it has become blown out of proportion.
So because it's on TV, that makes it ok? IMO it's worse when it's teachers because they rightfully are held to a higher standard. Part of their job is to know better.
Agreed. I think political correctness has gotten somewhat out of control but if you a are a teacher you cant do this. Both will be fired, and they should be IMO.
school is an important stepping stone in a childs life. its their introduction to professionalism. what they experience here, helps build the adult they become. stuff like this shouldn't be taking place. teachers need to be consistent and professional in front of their kids. you need to exercise way better judgement if ur a teacher. teachers should always err on the side of caution. its a nice career they are tampering with.
Agree. Teachers should be considered leaders to the students not a bad influence. That display was inappropriate on so many levels. That is the wrong message to be sending to high school kids. The parents should be outraged and the teachers should be fired.
I really dont understand this line of thinking. They all know what porn and drugs are too, should we have them in the classroom? Maybe throw in some booze too? Its not a question of whether these kids have ever seen a lapdance before, its a question whether its appropriate behavior for teachers to demonstrate in front of them.
No it doesn't make it okay. The teachers are not the ones putting all the sexual innuendo on television and probably more important nowadays the internet. They should be punished for this act, but if people are going to get up in arms about sex and violence it comes from different places other than teachers a lot of the time. All I'm saying is you can't shield kids from this stuff they're going to know about it anyway. The fact that the teachers did it was wrong, but the kids are at least 14 years old. It's a high school. They're probably giving each other lap dances.
If my daughters were in high school I wouldn't want this going on there. There are enough bad influences out there as it is, I don't need their teachers being another.
You're right, I might as well go scout some strip clubs now that my kids can work at when they get older, I mean there's obviously no stopping it. But seriously, I can turn the channel on the television. And strippers or whoever on TV aren't in role model positions. Teachers are. It's not about shielding kids from everything, it's about how there are some places it shoudn't be coming from.
You can have one viewpoint when you're just five years removed from being one of those high school kids. I guarantee you if you ever have a daughter you wouldn't think that way.
what would having a daughter change? daughters arent allowed to have fun? its called the real world. hiding from it doesnt make it go away.
Whether these teachers get fired or not, the kids need someone to have a frank talk with them about what they saw, and what a huge lapse in judgement it was, not age appropriate, etc....hopefully the parents are doing this, but I also think the school is partially responsible for doing it as well since they allowed them to be exposed to it. It probably wouldn't hurt to have the teachers themselves do this so they don't become "martyrs".
so you think this was the first time those kids found out that lap dances exist? maybe if it were 3rd graders.
No, I don't, and it doesn't really matter. That protocol should be followed because it is the responsible thing to do.
sure it is out there in the real world and high school kids should know about it but not while they are at school that is just ridiculous. Kids go to school to learn things that will show them how to be positive in the real world. The immature display that went on at their pep rally provides nothing that helps them in life. Why don't they bring strippers in or maybe a few guys to sell some pot to the students to liven up spirit week.
I don't pay taxes for my daughters to go to school and watch their teachers dry hump each other. That is not in fact the real world. Unless you work at a strip club, which my girls will not do. News flash: Fathers are generally pretty protective of their daughters. Maybe you've somehow never heard of that. My kids have heard plenty of curse words [a lot from my own mouth] and have seen shows and video games they maybe shouldn't have seen. Once again, none of that was at school. Stick to teaching them things they need to succeed in life, outside of a strip club that is. Teaching safe sex is fine, but don't glorify it.
Using your logic the teachers should have just went ahead and had sex because I'm sure all of the teenagers there knew that sex exists.
you wouldnt do this in an office. you wouldnt do this in a doctors office. you dont do this in school. you dont do it in front of children. you use your peanut brain. muscles right. we dont pay taxes to have our kids watch a burlesque show. i think an audience of 14, 15, 16, 17 yr olds do not need to see this. they're minors and are not legally supposed to see it anyhow. this simply does not have a place during school. teachers this dumb should not be on staff.
im curious to know how you think seeing this would affect your daughter. what they did = legal having sex in public = illegal not sure how my logic leads from one to the other, as there is a huge step of decency crossed in between. dancing in a sexual manner, and having sex in public are completely different. by your logic someone who carries a gun can be charged with 1st degree murder without firing the weapon.
Gish, I could go in front of a crowd of 5 year olds, and legally, tell them they all suck, will fail in life, and should all go F themselves. And then flip them off. I can legally do that. That doesn't make it right. Or well, you may think otherwise. You're not even trying to put yourself in a parents perspective. Life outside the home and school is where kids get exposed to crap, when they get older. When they goto school, they need to be dealt with professionally by their teachers and superiors.
