    From MiamiHerald:
"“The fact the we did have a good variety of people voted for ... is encouraging, because that means a lot of guys look up to guys than just those five,” said coach Adam Gase. “I think those five guys, at least in my experience here so far, stood out as leaders to me. Those are guys that are always approaching me. You see them working with younger guys. I guess I wasn't really surprised by who was voted in.”
Tannehill has been elected as a captain for the second time in five seasons. He also served on Joe Philbin’s leadership council.

“Every year I see this guy grow,” said receiver Jarvis Landry. “For the last three years, [he’s grown] more and more as a leader. It's something that this team needs. He stepped to forefront, and obviously being elected captain shows it.”"

    From FanSided 'PhinPhanatic":

"In case you aren’t familiar with how the captain patches work in the NFL, here are a couple tips to follow:

    • Stars on the patch highlight the number of consecutive years they’ve been voted a captain.
    • If the “C” is gold on the players jersey that means they’ve been voted captain 4+ years." Link

    From MiamiDolphins.com:
"“It’s definitely a huge honor,” Thomas said. “I felt blessed, felt humbled that all my teammates voted for me to become their captain, the special teams captain. I get to wear the ‘C’ on my chest. Anytime you get an honor like that from your peers, it’s humbling. It’s huge.

“I put in work just like Spencer Paysinger has put that work in, Walt Aikens has put in that work to be special teams captain. And obviously you’ve got old man (John) Denney; he’s been here forever. It could have been any of those guys plus a few others. I wasn’t expecting it, I didn’t feel entitled to it, but definitely once my name was called, it felt great.”

Wake expressed the same sense of gratitude, even taking it a step further.

“I believe it’s probably the greatest honor you can get,” said Wake, a four-time Pro Bowl selection. “There’s a lot of accolades out there from football. You talk about the Pro Bowl, you talk about All-Pro, Player of the Week, a lot of those type things regarding your performance on the field, but when you have somebody who you spend 10 hours a day with for seven, eight, nine months out of the year, those are the people who really know you. They really know what the general fan doesn’t see, what the media doesn’t see, what the coaches don’t even see.

“To have guys really kind of believe in you and put you in the position to say, hey, this is the kind of guy that we want to represent us as a whole, I feel like that’s the best honor you can get. Because it’s your peers, the guys you fight with, you train with, you fight against, those kind of guys. To get their opinion of you, obviously unbiased, to have that be bestowed upon you is truly an honor and I feel like that’s as high as it gets.”

As captains, the five players will have a “C” on their jersey and walk out to midfield for the opening coin toss every game."

Might be the only one who doesn't see Pouncey as a real "leader" on this team.

I agree. How is Pouncey a leader on this team. Jarvis Landry is a clear captain on offense. Pouncey must be doing stuff we dont see in the locker

Perhaps they wanted an OL captain? Even so, I think that Albert would be the choice over Pouncey, but it was the players vote. I agree that overall, Landry seems the more likely choice. The rest are obvious.

Maybe you don't see him as the leader but the team does. Funny how many don't see things the same as what's actually happening on the field.

Pouncey strikes me as an easy going dude. Pretty sure he's probably a popular figure amongst the players.
