Haha... I agree. Pat White was a much more established QB when he came out and I think Tebows machanics alone will keep Parcells, Ireland and Sparano from seriously looking at him. Now that being said, I fully expect to read reports that we are seriously looking at him and are considering drafting him. I think Tebow is going to be the "Darius Butler" of this year. I don't know if they can convince other teams we are going to take him at 12 though. I think some team will make a move to by pass us and get Tebow in round 2 possibly.
Theres no doubt that Tebow was an amazing college Qb but I don't see him sniffing the field as a starting NFL Qb. He's a nice kid, I honestly hope he proves me wrong but I don't us drafting him because he might be better than White. I think White has a better chance of being a starting Qb than Tebow. Thats not a ringing endorsement of White by the way, I don't think he's an NFL Qb either. Unlike White I don't see Tebow translating his talent to any other position, I do think White could be a receiver/wildcat Qb, maybe a returner, Tebow isn't going to play receiver, he might catch on a spot wildcat Qb who knows. The comment about him being a fullback with a alright arm is sadly pretty accurate as to how he translates in the NFL. I don't know, I'm not anything approaching a draft guru but watching Tebow play I don't see any signs of him being an NFL Qb like I do when I watch someone like Clausen, Bradford, McCoy, etc. You're right about him being smart, tough and a hard worker, he's a tempting player to take a shot on just because he's so likeable and his intangibles are there but man I don't see his talent translating into a legit NFL Qb. Who knows, it will be interesting to watch him play in the NFL.
While I understand what you are saying don't you think it would be better to compare him to someone we would hope he becomes and not just another wantabe who is unproven himself? Danny's first year was a 96 % rating and he was a rookie to boot. I think we should check out Tebow as well as anyother QB coming out this year and I'm not against drafting one, including Tebow, in hopes of an upgrade for this team. While there are things I like about Henne there are things I dislike and heres a little tidbit that concerns me greatly - he needs to wear glasses and choses not to, why? It makes one wonder if his flyers are based on him not seeing properly? Also he gets hit and has blurred vision; in my mind all pointing to the need for our due diligence where our QB needs are concerned.
People.... I dont care what conference he played in Tim Tebow will NEVER be as good of a QB as Chad Henne, simple and period. And looking at numbers our for goofballs, any fool can see we have a good QB in Henne.
Just because our staff will be coaching Tebow we should not jump to conclusions. There will be approx 50 more players that this staff will have a chance to scutinize, some who play at positions where we have a greater need. Tebow has to be considered a role player at this stage and we already experimented with drafting a role player with a high pick when we drafted White. Its unlikely we will do that again. Having said that I can see Tebow having success in the All star games because of his style of play . Someone will fall in love with him as Parcells did with White and draft him in the second round. The Jaguars could be that team if only because Tebow will fill the stands . BTW I think Tebow will find more success that White.
needs: ILB, NT & WR this draft/free-agency will go heavily w/ the defense they will buy back Pennington & use White as a receiver/return specialist no more QB's please
I would much rather have someone who can take hits like Tebow run the Wildcat than Pat white who is so small he is an injury waiting to happen.
DeAngelo Williams and Johnathan Stewart are awesome. Arguably the best tandem in the NFL. Question is and of course hypothetical, Ricky in him prime with Ronnie in his .........still feel that way????
Pat White is a NFL QB.......and listed as such Please stop making him be something he isn't and never will be......where does this come from?????
yeah i think tebow is likely headed to jacksonville. ownership has already made it clear that they want him. i dont know if the coaching staff can dissuade them from that
Great point/post. I'd like to add that Peyton Manning's first year passer rating was 71.2. Now, does that mean Henne will be as good or better than Manning? No. But, what is does mean is you can't really judge a QB on his first year. Give the kid a chance. JMHO...
Problem with the stats is Henne is a 2nd year player, the others are rookies. A year watching and being tutored by your coaches and your starting QB (Pennington in Henne's case) makes a huge difference. If Henne started last year his stats maybe a lot worse.
Sorry NJFINSFAN1, but I just don't buy that. In fact, I respectfully disagree. First year starters are first year starters. You can coach/teach/mentor all you want. But, when you take the field and take the snaps, that's when the rubber meets the road.
We can agree to disagree But in my eyes in makes a huge difference. I think Henne is going to be better than them, but you can't compare the stats, those three were thrown into the lions den while Henne watched the lion for a year before stepping into the den.
A year of learning makes a big difference!!! So next year is year three of "the project".....what does that mean exactly???
I think your going to see a Henne that blossoms into a very solid starter. I think you will see less mistakes and I think the coaches will loosen the reins a bit on him. He still needs help at WR and TE, but I think he will be a very solid NFL QB.
Agree to disagree then NJFINSFAN1. Look, you can show me how to drive a race car. I can even ride shotgun with you. But, until I get behind the wheel and learn how the car handles and so forth, I'm never gonna know what it really means to be a race car driver. I'm gonna have to spin out a few times to get the feel of it. As far as I am concerned Henne was a rookie QB this season. Was it fair to compare him to Manning? Maybe. But, I still say it's also not fair to judge him based on less than one full season of play. JMHO... Oh, and as for Tewbow (to try and keep this thread on topic), I think it's great he's gonna play in the Senior Bowl. Do I want us to draft him? Well, only if it's like the 5th round and he's still there (which, he won't). But, regardless...I think he's a special talent. And, it will be good to further evaluate him.
Do you honestly think Tebow is 1/100th the runner Ronnie is? Come on...it has nothing to do with being a Canes fan. Unless we play, I don't care about the Gators at all. I haven't seen a single thing Tebow does well that will translate to the NFL...and thats all. You'll probably see the Florida offense get leaps and bounds better without him next season. Because their backup, can actually throw the ball.
Run like Ronnie no......but regardless of his poor mechanics, he can throw better than Brown or White so he does add the dimension we need. That being said, if we draft him I'll freak out and go lay down in the middle of I-95 And was just messin with ya about the Canes thing....
I don't like the Gators, I didn't like Tebow before this year, and I don't like Pat White--- But I do like the thought of Tebow being a Dolphin. He's a Winner, and unlike Henne, who choked in big games in college---Tebow played up to the moment. I would love a chance to see what he can do as a Full time QB in the NFL. Henne can be great, but so can Tebow. Worst case scenario if Tebow and Henne pan out- it's a Brees-Rivers scenario from a few years back and we stick with the guy who we feel can lead us further, longer. But Tebow in Pat whites position and the backup QB is a great thing for us for next year. And if he stands out, him as our starting QB if Henne fails is great too. I say Tebow in round 2, convert white to a slant receiver like edelman and go from there. I like Henne too, but his track record in College scares me a bit in big games. Tebows played well in those situations, and he's a bonafide leader.
He stays in the pocket better than White I'll agree, however as far as just their arms....I dont think Tebow is actually any better in that regard. White isn't as poor a thrower as we have seen...he's just not ready to be throwing the ball in the NFL. His actual arm isnt bad, he just needs to settle down and play his game. That said, no he shouldnt be throwing the ball 30 times a game. Ever. But he should develope to the point where he can be a threat throwing the ball from the spread/wildcat. Both of them have horrible mechanics as a drop back passer...and I'd say Tebows follow through on his throw might actually be worse. You are right that Tebow has better size, but without talent I'm not sure it means anything. I still think White can make big plays if he used correctly. I'm not talking every game, 80 yarders, but bringing occassional excitement to the field and a few extra touchdowns every year. All of that said, if we draft Tebow save a spot in the road next to you for me.
Actually if We take Tebow we could use him as a Dallas Clark type of TE. It looks like Fasano might walk we could use a big TE pass catcher that can play QB @ least better than Pat White IMO.
Henne played his final college game against Florida in the 2008 Capital One Bowl. Henne was named the MVP of the game after he led his team to a 41-35 victory over the Gators and reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Tim Tebow.
The drunk driver will probably be picked before Tebow. http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2010/jan/11/dunlap-enter-nfl-draft-former-fort-dorchester-star/
Against a very very poor secondary. Everyone had huge yards throwing on the Gators that year. Last year or this year they would have eaten him up. I'm not down on Henne, just saying I wonder how long it will take for the last few Pat White supporters to get it that he will never be a hint of a NFL QB. He cannot throw a NFL ball. He cannot complete passes against NFL players. He cannot run on NFL defenses. Was there anything at all this year that showed anyone that he could be? Our coaches know that he cannot throw the ball. Which is why they would not allow him to attempt more then 5 passes and he has a zero percent completion average. ZERO ZIP NADA Pat White had NFL running backs playing with him in college to make the tough yards, Tim Tebow had Tim Tebow. Tim was the only player I've ever seen that could run a one man play action pass, lol.
If you get hit hard enough right below the eye you are not going to see right, it was a freak injury that could have happened to anyone.
