I've been dubious of "Ted Ginn, Wr extrodinaire" simply because Teddy is so raw as a Wr, but I have consistently said if Ted Ginn passes 2,000 total yards, he will have a successful season. With Sunday's 299 yd performance on returns, Teddy passed 1,000 total yds: -211 receiving yards -36 yards rushing -9 yds on punt returns -788 yds on kick returns ______ 1044 total yards With 9 games left to play, Ted must average 107 yds to break the 2,000 total yards barrier. Which is reachable, however he was put in kick off returns so late in the season that it is unlikely that he will be able to reach the Leon Washington 2,300 yd barrier unless he has some large games receiving as well as kick returning.
Not unless he just turns into a scoring machine, but 2,000 total yds out of TG is nothing to sneeze at, in fact he may have made the pro bowl today as a returner. 2 TD's back to back against Paul Westhoff's Special Teams unit is a great feat.
I think that is significant Andrew.. it wasn't just any ol' unit, it was one of the best in the NFL.. and it felt REAL sweet to see Teddy burn them two in a row...
Hard to think that if Ginn keeps up that level on Special Teams, he will probably make the Pro-Bowl. Who would have thought that this time last week eh?
Exactly, Westhoff is one of the best ST coaches in the NFL that is why Ginn may make the pbowl off of the effort. No one has returned to Kickoff's 100+ yds for TD's in the same game in NFL History, that is no small thing. When Ginn made the pro bowl as an alternate in 07 he had 2006 yards, I think he can surpass that this year, especially against some of the teams we will play after the Pats game.
Maybe next week he fumbles three kick offs. There is a danger in projecting future performance, because the NFL changes week to week, one week the hero, next week the goat. But Ginn has shown he can return kicks at a high level, if he wants to that is.
