Well, if you think they're are going to lose in any given week, just save yourself the aggravation and don't watch. Woe is us posts ad nauseum don't do anyone any good.
Yep. We could very easily have one 8-9 games LAST season. I'm not buying all of this were Miami is one of the worst teams out there ****, I mean stuff. Offensively, losing Brandon Marshall will hurt, losing Carey and Columbo will help. Defensively, I think we'll be near as good, as good, or slightly better. And as you mentioned, the NFC East has been replaced with the NFC West on the schedule. We're certainly not a top 10 type team, but we're not the only squad in the league with question marks. Middle of the pack sounds about right to me.
Every new season brings new hopes...the fact is we don't know how this team is going to do since we have no history with the coaching staff, with both the offensive and defense schemes, with a plethora of rookies and youngster that should/could develop into better players this year... I didn't see anything better than 4 wins last year, given the circumstances the team was in... The negative side of me agrees whole-heartedly with you on the prognosis for this team this year, but that's exactly why they play the games... Either way, it's pretty easy to make a negative prognosis based on a couple of preseason games... Let's just see what happens as this team adjusts to all the changes...
There is nothing unrealistic about betting markets. I would say those predicting a bottom-5 team are the ones in the extreme minority.
It's week two of the preseason. No one else is sure, either. I think that's a major assumption. If we're starting a rookie it's probably because the coaching staff believes he's better than QB we had last year. I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt or at least reserve judgement until the kid has a few games under his belt. Sure looks that way to me. Again, what are you basing this on? I think its too early to say one way or the other.
How can your view of the future be "reality"? Do you not understand how you're fortune telling and calling it reality?
When something is a virtual lock a prediction becomes more than some random guess. It is going to be comical to watch the place as the homers unrealistic goals and expectations are destroyed day by day. This place is going to become a zoo and I'm going to find it rather humorous. Dolphins aren't good and rebuilding with little talent at many positions with a rookie HC and people here think 8 wins is realistic. Going to funny watching this year unfold....
Now that's the kinda of hard edged truth we need around here. Do tell, can you give us the future prognosis for all of the NFL teams or is your expertise confined to the Dolphins?
Exactly how is an 8-8 season going to help this organization? They would end up probably finishing 3rd or 4th in the AFC East and they would end up drafting in the middle of the pack in the draft next year. This team has so many holes that it is going to take at least three solid drafts to fill most of these holes. I see 6 wins as the maximum this team will have this season, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they only have three or four wins and end up with the first or second overall pick in the 2013 draft. It's just too bad that they didn't end up with the first or second pick in the draft this past season.
In a heartbeat. Only an idiot wouldn't take that bet. Show me a site that offers dolphins o/u 8 wins and I'd be all over that bet. Show me the site and I'll show you the money. Would be great to have my trip to Alaska next year paid off so easily
You're right, it is early. And I am basing my early opinions on what I've seen so far. I say worse at QB simply because a rookie will be starting. Growing pains are going to happen. I hope Tannehill will be fine long term, but he will probably struggle Year 1. WR is a given. As far as the DB's goes, it's just the eyeball test. So far we look worse than last year. Hopefully it's mostly to do with a new system and new players but we'll see. I stand by my original opinion that we are worse at QB, WR and DB.
Thanks, but I'm wealthy already. What I want now is a professional football team in Miami who can actually compete for a Super Bowl. Not a team that is satisfied with winning half the games they play each season.
Then it won't hurt, if you make the bet and lose. If you win, you could always donate it to my favorite charity.
It would depend on your position regarding "mediocrity", but seems to me, if our first year HC, and eventually our first year QB, could both settle their feet into their new found positions, and yet maintain our familiar standard of living, what more could anyone ask?
PinnacleSports has the Dolphins at 7.5 total wins right now. BoDog is at 7. Bet365 is at 7.5 Legends is at 7.5 Bookmaker is at 7.
There you have it. All you folks who constantly and mainly post only about how much the Dolphins are going to suck this season, just go bet all your savings on the under and shut the fvck up. Then when you win, which seem so assured of doing, you can come back here and gloat.
I really didn't become wealthy by betting on sports. I did it the old fashion way though hard work, and I got lucky by making some investments, which turned out very fortunate for me. This allowed me to retire at age 54 and play golf 5-6 days a week and travel whenever I want. I learned a long time ago that betting on sports teams is nothing but a way to lose money, very quickly. Of course I have absolutely no problem placing bets when it comes to playing golf for money. In fact I made enough money in the last two years betting on the golf course to pay for my country club membership for the entire year. I have no problem betting on myself, but when it comes to betting on other players or teams, no thank you. I just don't see the Dolphins winning seven games this coming season, but that is just my opinion. I will leave it up to the gamblers to put their money at risk if they want to bet the over/under for the season.
I think betting the under at 7.5 is a pretty good bet. I just can't bring myself to bet against my team. Can't do it. The money would be dirty and I'd feel dirty spending it.
So are you saying that because we beat the bills twice last season we will lose both this season? And of course those playoff bound Rams will show us the door, right?
See just when I think you might have a point you go and say something so absolutely stupid that it defies logic. Seriously Snowman...go and check the record for west coast teams playing on the east coast at 1PM. Also anyone basing their opinion on our 2 preseason games so far....whew. We actually do have a real solid running game that everyone is forgetting about because the coaching staff is pushing the passing game so much to see what they have. We aren't going to run the ball 15% in the regular season with Bush/Thomas (both good receivers out of the backfield) and Miller. That means also that DL's aren't going to be able to pin their ears back like Tampa/Carolina were allowed to do. Reality check would be that this team isn't much different from last year. With a few breaks they can easily be anywhere from a 5 to 8 win team. Only way they are a 4 win team or less is if the team suffers a lot of injuries. I also love how every year there are a couple of board posters who are like emo little children who I pity as they have no hope in their lives. I bet they probably said the same thing last year...and the year before. Seriously how can you even be a fan if your that jaded? There comes a time in every sports fans life that if you don't have any hope but bottom 5 every year....why put yourself through it even when that doesn't happen.
Looking back on this thread makes me smile. Thanks to everyone who encouaged me to bet Dolphins under 7.5 wins. Theyve had a nice year but they have to win 4 of 6 games. Easy money. not ripping the Fins as theyve been competitive, just laughing at the early season arrogance of posters here. Thanks for the easy money.
